aji amarillo question

I started some aji amarillo seed, from seeds of change, in late January. The first several peppers have ripened to a nice wrinkled orange. However, for some reason, they have little to no heat. The hottest ones are like a pepperoncini. Most have no heat at all, like a bell pepper. They do have a very good, sweet flavor. I thought this variety was supposed to be hot though? The plant is under moderate stress, today the high was 103. They get water every day, and I fertilize weekly with alaska fish fertilizer and maxicrop seaweed fertilizer. Is this lack of heat normal?
