I've seen a lot of peppers called Aji Amarillo.

Mine are from seeds out of a pod from Peru and they are hot.

I also have seeds labled Aji Amarillo that say they are C. Annuum not C.Baccatum like the Peru ones are.
I haven't gotten pods from the Annuum yet so I don't know if they will be hot or not.
Pack of the Annums says they will be 3-4 invches long,the baccatums are easily 5-6 inches long and much fatter and take a long time to turn ripe.
Did your plants buds have gold specks on them(C.Baccatum)?

Aji amarillo means yellow chile in Spanish.

There are lots of yellow chiles.

The flowers had the typical baccatum markings on the flowers. I'll post a picture when I get home from work. I'm not sure how many ripe one's are left though, I was eating them off the plant last night while I was sitting outside. The flavor is really great, kind of a mix of really sweet yellow bell, some orange/lemon flavors, and, to me, a tiny bit of carrot like flavor.
I did find a couple of sites saying they aren't supposed to be very hot, but I found more saying 40k-50k scoville units and comparing them to pequins. I have purple pequin peppers from seed from peppermania and they are in my opinion almost as hot as habaneros by weight. No comparison between that and the mild aji amarillo.

I also like the flavor of baccatums and have found a range of heat, from mild to quite hot,between different varieties.

The newer ones have at least a little heat. I think the stress from a month with only one day of rain, and high's in the upper 90's, may have something to do with that. On the other hand, my lemon drop and aji limon are plenty hot.
