Glad to hear your plants are hanging in there, if maybe not thriving as you might desire. Citrus do have a tendency to stop and grow roots when you don't see anything happening above ground. Be careful of sending and receiving citrus plant material. Some areas have pests (see citrus greening disease for example) and quarrantines that prohibit moving citrus plants from some areas.

Beautiful jagasian! Congratulations and thank you for your well organized list of techniques and observations....plus the reminder to change my reservoir water. I've been doing aeroponic cloning of conifers on and off for a few years now with mixed results. My sprayers are on a timer which has them come on for only a few seconds at 30 minute intervals (which is hard on the pumps). I really like the idea of a fogger and wonder if you would please post a photo of how it is positioned in the cloner? I've always waited until the cuttings were well rooted before transferring them out of the cloner, to the point of sometimes even having to trim roots. Mine are potted into the smallest container the roots will fit into (usually a 3 inch pot) using my propagation mix of 3 parts coarse perlite and 1 part fine coir. The roots are fragile and may clump together so I gently spread the roots apart inside their empty pot, then carefully add media around the roots. If your potting mix is dry it will flow nicely around the roots, then water immediately. Since cloners are usually indoors, along the shock of being transferred, the newly potting cuttings should be babied for a while with humidity and shade. Ken's suggestion of continuing your experimentation by potting up cuttings at different stages of root growth is definitely worth doing to find what works best for you. Ahh to the gentleman in Binghamton, there's a hydroponics store in Vestal on called Planted Earth In fact I think it's on Vestal Rd, They'll have everything you're looking for. The EZ Clone people have a product called REZ-CLEAR that they recommend for extending the life of the solution and keeping if free of algae and contaminants. I've just started usin it so no comments. I am trying to clone blueberries on a large scale. Unlike the posters here I did everything the formal (and expensive) way. So far.....not good. Tons of correspondence with manufacturers of clone machines and additives and they seemed to know alot less than me with their expertise being in the cannibis. I've asked one question of The Hormex people, the ez clone folks, Turbo Klone, Turbo King, Dip & Grow etc: Why are you recommending a solution PH of 6.0 for a plant that grows best in the field with a PH of 4.5-4.8. Their response? Try 5.5 And there it sits. Dip & Glo (the only knowledgeable person I've engaged with) does not recommend his solution in the tank. As a matter of fact, it breaks down in ten hours anyway. IBA is indeed insoluable, but NAA is not. Dip & Glo combines both in a liquid form as does Hormex in their Liquid concentrate. Hormex, however, recommends their liquid concentrate in the cloning solution. And I am currently using that at the recommended dosage (not on the label) of one tsp per five gals. along with silica and the CLEAR-REZ. While D n Grow recommends a 1 to 5 second dip with the cuttings that's for dirt (or dry medias) and rendered ineffective when washed off in a cloning machine. On this round of cuttings I tried to establish control groups and dipped the cuttings in the D&G for extended periods of time - up to 1/2 hr. - before they went into the machine. In another machine that is doing nothing but keeping the cuttings barely alive, I pulled out several rows of cuttings and immersed them in the dip and grow for over an hour. The theory (completely unproven) .....coating will wash off, the plant has to absorb the liquid to have any chance to be effectve. ONe note: The humidity dome is considered largely ineffective. it's been proven that the stems can absorb enough liquid from the bombardment they're receiving and I'd bet the dome is contributing to the rot. Conclusion: There are too many variables for me to ever be able to figure this out. At this point I am absolutely nowhere without a single success - though who knows, this current batch may actually root. Any solid advise about The blueberry and a cloning machine would be appreciated. SteveAJL at the American on Line Place

It is a difficult process. The pH is critical you want to have your water at about 5.5. Supposedly the easiest plant to clone is bluecrop. Test results are obtained with soft cuttings in the spring. I have used various routes hormones. Now I'm using a dip and glow and after dipping the cuttings I add the remainder to the tank Temperature should be from 70 to 72 degrees. They say not to add nutrients before root development but I do and look for a formula with B1. I set the timer to run for 50 minutes and then 10 minutes rest. I don't use a dome but I do use fluorescent grow lights and have them on mildly for 18 hours a day. Even with all that the results are disappointing and I think you might be better served to dip in a powder root hormone and plant immediately into a SaSand peat , if you stumble on a winning formula please get back to me
