OMG!! Just looking at this and your other post on the plants indoors. IT most have taken you hours to move everything in and then back to the outdoors!!

That mango looks great now and UNBELIEVABLE growth!! That makes me jealous....I just pruned my 2 mango trees about a week ago and I can see buds just starting to swell. You will have a much nicer tree now.

As for your blooming plumeria pics, all I can say is GORGEOUS!! I am so jealous of your Desert Sunrise! Mine dropped it's info and it did have a few tiny buds just starting:( Guess I will have to wait for next year now.

Glad to know that eveything made it thru the storm. I wanted to ask you before, what kind of citrus do you have that is fruiting right now?

Thanks Andrew...you know that i really didnt want to prune that Mango, but i knew it needed it since it was so top heavy. Now, i cant believe the new growth emerging so qucikly!! It's amazing how fast it has reacted to the pruning.

Just like the DR's...i finally listened to my dear friend that talked me into cutting them back hard. What a beautiful sight to see when you see the new growth forming. I love to see how they respond to the care that you give them. It truly is very satisfying to see them grow so quickly!!! Thanks for the encouragement... : )

I have two citrus trees. The Ponderosa is still little but doing great in the "Gritty Mix" and the other citrus is the Meyer lemon which has two full size lemons on it now.
Oh, and i do have a mini Pomagrante tree too! with fruit on it!!!

Thank you for all of your kinds compliments!!! We did spend alot of time outside cleaning up the yard. When the power is off, its the only thing to do...LOL

I do really enjoy my Lani!!! It has been a great blooming tree and i would definately put it on th "must have list"
You did order one right? I think i remeber that you said that you received one.

As far as bringing in the trees...it was a job doing all of the moving and preparing for them to come inside. But, it was pleasant work to be able to have them protected. Once the storm passed, i couldnt wait to get them back in the sun. I gave them a soaking of rain water. then i went back and fertilized them with Foliage Pro. I did add a little B-1 and ST to the mix just to give them a boost. I know that the Foliage Pro has all the essential Nutrients that they need, but i figured they needed an extra shot for all of the trama they received..LOL

Laura, beautiful plummie blooms! Love the Psycho and Lani. I'm trying to imagine the smell from the flowers in your yard. The back breaking hard work does pay off. Hurricane Irene didn't do damage to them.

Your DRs are beautiful. I heed the advice on prunning back my DR as well. I did it in the heat of summer but the leaves are coming back now! Your DR's seedpod is getitng longer. Do you know how long it takes before the pod opens up?

Thanks for the comments...Irene did her fair share of damage to alot of people and property here, but we were fortunate that we didnt have any problems..

The clean up in the yard was the biggest mess. You are right about the back breaking pain for all of the lifting and bending... Need some therapy!!! : ) LOL!!!!

The smell is truly remarkable, and i will tell you that the best place that i have ever smelled the fragrance so strong was while i was visiting out in Costa Mesa. Then the blooms were not even at their peak. I was invited back sometime this late summer to finallyy have the full effect of all the blooms when they are in there glory...Awwww
wish i could smell them now!!!

I went back to look for that pic that you are talking about...is it the pic that the blooms arent open yet? That was the Royal Hawaiian. If that wasnt the pic,, please number the pic so i can help you...its so funny that you mentioned Scott Pratt. Mine is finally getting better from all of the damage that i did when i sprayed for mites. It is doing great. No blooms, but its looking good. My other Dark red, (Black Tiger) is getting ready to open soon..maybe tomorrow. Ill post a pic here for you to see this dark red.

The heat is not as bad this week for us, We still have people around us that do not have power. So, at least they can sleep somewhat comfortably at night now...

Im so gald i have power...I think that i would have had to "volunteer" to work..LOL just to be able to get into the real world and have some AC!!! LOL

But, i know that i needed to be here to clean up and get everything back in order...I guess i was just wishing i was somewhere else for a while..LOL : )

Laura, Looks like everything made it though, looking good. You had it worse by you but I was glad I brought my few plants in. I stacked mine up as much as possible. One large weeping fig,4 bananas, 2 dragon fruits, 5 plumies plants plus seedlings and cuttings. Sorry the pic is so dark. The cricket made a fatal mistake coming in as it was great entertainment for the cats. Someone got him as no more chirping after the first night. Peg

Loving your pics!! The palms in your yard are beautiful!
Glad to see your plumies and adeniums were safe and doing well. Instead of hurricanes I have a gardener that does more damage than a hurricane, either he or his assistant broke off a branch from my Taj Mahal with 2 huge inflos that were getting ready to open. Everytime he works in the patch there are broken branches.

Laura, sorry about that vague question. In the second and third pics of the plumies in your house, there's a short one in the center or slightly right that's in a terracotta plastic pot with no inflo just really pretty new red-tinted leaves. I was wondering which variety made such cool foliage.

Just read your email and it sounds like the heat is really hitting you all real hard. Ugg~ I guess its good for rooting your cuttings. but hard to deal with everyday, you all need some relief down there.

Ill keepmy eye on the progress of the cutting... and ill let you know what is happening. My computer is running so slow, im up on my DH computer and it feels so strange!!! LOL!!!!

When I saw your Desert Rose plants, I had to find out what they were........oh my, I think I would love to grow one.
They are very interesting to look at. And yours seem to have some years on them......

We must have been posting at the same time because i missed your post. That Miami Rose will be a challenge, but im up for it!!! Im glad we didnt keep those dates anyway, since the weather didnt work out!!!

Lets try for this fall when we are going to get things ready for the winter. I would love to try sometime in Sept. But things are so crazy now, im thinking Oct will be the best time. Ill email you later when it will b good for you!! Thanks Dave!!! So glad you and K has a good vac. and you are all back home and safe. At least now you have a few more cuttings to start. Oh my...epecially on the Taj Mahal!!! I think that he/she needs some bumper pads around their body!!! I know you have a huge garden to work with, but it is still frustrating to see a break on any tree. Im sorry for your losses!!! Another cutting to be rooted. At least this will be a prized cutting. I love my Taj Mahal!!

Thank you for the kind compliments on the palms. I do love those big guys. I always wanted my yard to look like i was somewhere in the tropics or CA or FLA. They were fun to plant years ago. Now they pretty much take cae of themselves. I just do a little maintance on them feed them and they love the attention!!!

The Adeniums (Desert Roses) are very unique indeed!!! They do have their own personality. I find that they are easy to take care of. Full sun during the summer and i treat them somewhat like the Plumies during the winter. Limiting the water intske. But the Plumies receive less water then the DR's during the winter. I feed them in the summer just like the Plumeria and i water themm more often as well. (summertime)
Especially since they are in the "AL's Gritty Mix" This mix is a very fast draining mix. The DR's love it too!
