Rooting cuttings without nodes

Does anyone know if this is possible? I recently got some Hoya cuttings and a few of them are "node-less". I seem to remember nodeless cuttings of other plants sprouting roots in water - but now I use soil for my cuttings, and also rooting hormone, so I was wondering if you MUST have a node when rooting hoyas. The stems DO have the little bumps all up and down them, if that means anything.

Thanks
