Where to buy low salt 2-20-20 liquid fertilizer?
Comments (6)The "salt index" is a concern for container planting and for seed germinations in greenhouse. The article concluded, "The best fertilizers for seed-row application have a low salt index, N compounds that do not produce free ammonia, and potassium phosphate rather than potassium chloride as the K source." I once had a wave-petunia in a container, sitting under a porch, and did not get much rain. I used a soluble high phosphorus fertilizer resulted in tons of blooms. Then the salt built up and it went brown way before the winter. That's why I'm concerned about the salt-index for my roses in containers next year. You are right, gonebananas, that ammonium sulfate is a good soil acidifier. My neighbor used an acid soluble fertilizer with ammonium sulfate with good results on her rhododendrons. Mine didn't do well on espresso ground from Starbucks. They have pink stripes, and my cement walkway still has a white stripe from coffee ground leaking out while I dragged the bag....See More10-20-20 in the Twin Cities
Comments (4)Hi Lynn, I'm in Arden Hills, very near the Arden Hills, Shoreview, Roseville border. The tubers I saved last season all rotted. I kept them in my garage and I guess it was way too cold. My basement was too warm so I couldn't leave them down there. Where did you store yours?? I ended up ordering, I think, 23 tubers and 7 cuttings from several growers out west. Just received 8 today from Connell's plus they gave me 2 more free!!! What a surprise! I'm regretting that I ordered so many though because I'm not sure I have the time to make enough raised beds in the garden for them. I will try to improve the soil and nutrients this year though. Cory Wynn at Wynn's Dahlias said to try topsoil and 10-20-20(once during planting & side dress in mid summer). Tracy...See MoreHow to prepare 1/2 strength fertilizer from 20-20-20?
Comments (9)Wanna Run, Sarong said the directions were written in Aribic..LOL.. Sarong, how often will you fertilize? Once every two wks, or once a month? 20-20-20 is a fairly balanced fertilized, so once a month should do..balanced, meanaing it 'should' be adequate for flowering, (middle number) but it'll provide as much nitrogen (foliage) too. I use 20-20-20 on bougs, but separate fertilizer for Hibiscus..Are you in the states or overseas? The reason I ask is you can purchase hib fertilizer in US..(I dont know where of if, overseas) I'm really a big hib fertiizler fan..every since using hib fertilizer on hibs, they do fantastic..bloom yr round.. Hib fert has enough, 'whatever' in it to keep leaves green, AND encourage flowering...Toni...See MorePeter's 20-20-20
Comments (6)Thanks Cynthia, I've tried walmart, lowe's and HomeDepot but all I could find was MG or Expert. (I think that's the name) I don't think any of it was 20-20-20. Until I can find it, I guess I'll just get some tomato food. I'm wanting it for brugs....See Morecatlet40_yahoo_com
