My 2 yr. old, own root Grand Dame was not cane hardy this year, however, this was one of the worst winters we've had. She had black canes to the ground. I pruned her so severely (literally to the ground) that I wasn't expecting her to come back. It took awhile, but she's back, still small, but has buds and looks healthy - deep green, glossy, perfect foliage. I think with normal z5 winters, she will be fine. I will add that I usually lose hybrid teas to winter, but sometimes, you just gotta try. This is a rose I'm willing to pamper and coddle and do whatever it takes to make her happy. Carol, I've never seen a Grand Dame as perfectly shaped as yours. Desertgarden, those are magnificent blooms! It must be a challenge growing roses in Las Vegas.

Mistakes are sometimes made you are forgiven. As it may seem like a " dohhhh WHY did I do that and then ask the question" Only to get what appears to be " ASK BEFOR YOU ACT "(For my responce you should also know: Oddly what some may neglect to tell you is Roses are also resiliant and sometimes also hardy ( EXP: I've had some of mine attact by deer and the roses din't seem to mind ) Ohh well: I guess I can't control everything Example: Like my last concern: The mighty rose gods may even tell you not to water leaves right after it rains. The rose that gets pruned in Florida is a rose pruned in Michican as well: Regardless if its new, old what ever rose it is. It is sometimes wise to let the rose grow the gardener who also grows the rose. Is it wise to prun in Winter ? No Will your roses die if you do it anways ? No Will your rose die if you dont do it ? No ( you might have some extra prunning to do in spring thou) When is the best time to prune your roses ? I don't know ask your rose. Mine say Mid/Late Fall one yr and early Srping anouther yr. Hi. Better for all that I don't attempt to post pictures. Past pictures of important people in my life have led to trees coming out of their heads. (translation: I'm the worst photographer in the world). Plus I've never downloaded pictures and was gonna beg a son for help! We all escaped unscathed. Sonia, who used to post on another site, sparked my interest in this plumie and I had to have one. Was just thrilled that it decided to send up two inflows even though it's the end of the season.Another nice one from JJ is Afrique. No pictures but it's pretty and smells good too. Sorry for wishing for more hot weather but we've had coastal eddy all summer and my tomato plants and plumeria have paid the price. Mary

I saw Anne Hathaway today and fell in love. This rose was bred by Harkness. It is an English Legend rose. But unfortunately no one is carrying it. Heirloom used to carry it but they aren't anymore. I checked. Doing a search on the internet, it appears no one has her for sale. So, does anyone here have her? And would you be willing to send me part of her? I have never rooted a cutting before and I am not sure how or what you send on this forum. I am willing to learn. I don't know if you send rooted cuttings or what. Can anyone help me out? Karen
