search function is now working!

GW seems to have fixed the search glitch(Thanks for posting about it Sue) on this forum at least. So please check for names before starting a new thread again, and of course make sure you write it exactly as their name appears on their profile. : )

Per the update in the 'What's New at GW banner in red on the main page here...

January 31: We are continuing to work on search engine issues. You may get incorrect results on all forums. We are also aware of broken links on some forums. We are continuing to make repairs and appreciate your patience. If you are having other issues, not related to search or broken links, please contact us.

Seems it brings up the posts on the search, but then there is a broken link when you go to click on them.

I'm guessing we should then start a new thread again once it's back up. Hopefully they will have it back up for good soon.

It has not been working for me the last 3-4 days. I haven't installed anything new on my computer. I'm assuming it's something with GW. I keep wanting to search new things I've gotten to see what I can find out, and getting a blank page.

Apparently a server crashed. An iVillage rep states they are working on the problem, but it will be a few days. Other problems seen is the site not recognizing you and having to sign in over and over or not being able to get on the site at all. Anyone use BM Shaker Beige? And does the search function work?

I have just spent the day painting my family room Shaker Beige. I am too tired to post a pic -- right now it is reading yellow to me. I hope it looks different in the morning. I used Regal Matte - and from my experience, it takes a while for this paint to dry true to color. I used a coat of tinted primer, then a coat of Regal Matte, so I am sure none of the gold I was trying to cover up is showing through! I was so glad to see pictures!!! Maybe mine will turn out to be the soft neutral color I am looking for!!!

I was trying to do some searches a couple of hours ago on the Appliance forum and nothing was coming up even though I was searching for some common terms that I knew I had seen in discussions (e.g. backdraft, ventilation, and induction).

Hi,
I figured out a way around the glitch!
Search for the member you want to post about. Though you can't bring up the post, the heading of the post will still show. Read the last date posting on that thread. From there, you can go back and click on previous pages guessing which one might have a date close to the one on the post. Then narrow it down from there.
Ok, so it is a bit of a pain, but if you really want to read about someone or really need to post a review, it will work.

lol...try and explain that to a newbie or oldie who is not familiar with the forum and first doing a search...LMAO.

I do know what you mean, as I have done it, wanting to see the 'scoop' on a trader...lol

Maybe once it is done, we can do some linking to the numerous threads and direct newer reviews to the 'original'(oldest) review thread. Luckily most folks are putting the member name in the subject line, so a search will show all of their reviews.

Sadly the forum in only 14 months old, and we have already used up 41 of the 67 pages. Likely by the end of the year, the older ones will start dropping off.

One other possibility that has sometimes worked for me - I google the username and the words "rate" and "review" - sometimes that has gotten me to the listing. (But not always - go figure.)

How hard can this be to fix?
