Yet another pepper ID

I have an 18 gallon container with two chiles in it, one a morich and one that is supposed to be a scotch bonnet. Naturally I did not label which plant is which, but now that the fruit has begun to set I am pretty confident that I have identified the morich. The other, though, does not look much like a SB. The flowers on it look very chinense-like, but the fruit does not look familiar. It might be a hybrid, but if you guys have an idea of what it could be, I would love to hear it.

Cue the typical bad picture. They have very pronounced vertical ridges and the larger pods tend to develop a curve.

I can get better pics when the sun comes back out. Thanks guys.

They look identical to the Melrose peppers i am currently growing. Do they turn yellow, then red?

be nice if we could see a cluster of the leaves from the top ... without the sun shining thru them.. throwing off color ....i cant even make out of they are compound leaves ... ken

them there look like peperoncini for sure although those leaves are a bit more broader then my peporoncini plants. The leaves on my peporoncini's are longer and thinner.

How do they taste?

They're rather hot, kind of like an orange hab but not quite as intense. There is very little taste at this point and they're pretty squishy. Not very pleasant.

Cubanelles aren't hot though, right? These are pretty toasty. They seem kind of hot for a peperoncini, but I've never had fresh ones so I can't argue with that conclusion.

it sounded like you are not so excited about the taste.. they remind me of padron chiles.. which are not very spicy, but people like to fry them up, salt, then eat as a snack at bars and such in spain. similar to shishitou peppers. might be worth giving it a try for a spicy summer snack. good luck.

These are way too hot to eat as a snack. Or maybe I'm just a wimp, in which case my Nagas are going to kill me.

Pickle those Pepperocini -they are great I've went through 2 big bottles of the store bought waiting on the fresh ones to grow enough for me to get my own. And yes I've ate them for snacks (5-7 at a time). Taste AWESOME!
