Fresno peppers growing upside down

I have been growing peppers for about 3 years. I have a Fresno pepper plant and the peppers are growing up instead of hanging down.

My neighbor also has a cherry bomb pepper doing the same thing.

I have never seen this before. Anyone have any comments?

See that commercial for the "Topsy Turvy"... well it airs in ohio i dont know about cali. They say the plant will grow better. but the plant likes to grow towards light. so it only makes sense the plant is going to turn and grow towards the light. i think this is what yours are doing... a scam if you ask me

mwylie3....i could be wrong but i think raevans means his peppers themselves are growing up as oposed to down like they usually do?

though i know what youre talking about....my mother grew some tomatoes in those upside down things a few years back....i think the whole purpose of those is suposed to be since the soil sits on the bottom and you water and feed from the top with gravity and all its suposed to help feed the roots better/easier/more effiantly

though if they actually do work or help...i have no idea

to grow tomatoes upside down its better to use 5 gallon buckets. You cut a small hole in the bottom and place a sheet of newspaper or a coffee filter over it. Fill the bucket with a good potting soil, shaking occasionally so the soil will settle. lay another sheet of newspaper or coffee filter on top of the soil. cut another small hole in the bucket lid. Put the lid on and turn the bucket over. cut a small hole in newspaper or coffee filter so you can plant the tomatoe. I plant them when they are pretty small as its easier to get them in. Water daily until it get a nice size then flip the bucket over and hang it up. Preferable to a heavy clothline pole or something strong enough to hold it. You can remove the lid and plant something in the top or you can leave the lid on. Water well until the water starts running out the bottom. No staking is needed and tomatoes never lay on the ground. I am doing this method this year. I'm doing two different buckets, hanging them on the old kind of clothline pole that's like a large T. I put chicken wire loosely up the main pole and am growing cucumbers up the pole. So far everything is doing good. Happy Gardening, Gemfire

My mom got a toppsy turvy (whatever its called) for these awesome little orange tomatoes. It sucked at first then I looked at it and realized she set it up wrong. I fixed it and gave is some fert, the thing took off. She overwintered it by hanging it way up in the air to get some key morning sunlight. I steal as many of those tomatoes as possible. fiedlermeister's the man. That was funny. But.. Why not? It's harder for some pests to reach the plant. Much of the growth is helped by gravity. I could use these in places where nothing is growing. For varieties to try in it. I would try cayenne, tabasco, habs or thai. I guess Jals would work. You're gunna want a young plant so it doesn't waste time growing in the wrong direction (but big enough that it clears the bottom!). Hab might be good cause its bushy. All the others are good cause they're fairly adaptable. But dude, try whatever. Peppers are tough. Lets us know how it goes if you do it.

My Fresno peppers have done the same thing the past two years. Since last year was the first year I grew this variety, I just assumed that's the way they were (kinda like my Thai Dragons)...

Some peppers will start to grow upright, and eventually start to hang down. Others remain upright. From a quick search, Fresno seems to have upright fruit.

I am located in NJ and have two different varieties of bell peppers that have fruit all growing upside down! I have never seen anything like it!! Maybe the pepper plants are confused with some kind of change in the planet's polarity?!
