JJ's in Tulsa @ Southwood Nursery.
Comments (24)You guys are so lucky to get such good prices. I bought a bunch of JJ cuttings in February and rooted them. I paid a lot more for an xquisite cutting than you did for a rooted plant. Here it is blooming, Jen you are right. All the cuttings were cut at an angle and were dehydrated. I tried to cut one that looked bad but the pith had collapsed and it was hollow inside. I could not root it. I ended up grafting the tips for several plants that I could not root. Some of them were pretty tiny. I just rooted the rest of them with the angle cut. It was way too risky trying to re-cut them square. I will make new plants in the future with square cuts. George...See MoreJJ at Lowe's
Comments (101)Great haul, Roxanne! I love Temptation so much that I have three of them. I also just picked up Dynamite, actually two of them since I have never seen it before and El Corazon. The HD in San Bernardino had them in full sun and the Dynamites have some sunburned leaves. The HD in Eastvale has them inside and soggy wet, I don't know which is harder on the poor green house raised plants! So far my favorite blooms are the Laredo Princess and the Xquisite that I got from Parkview. Jubilee and Captivate are rather pale and small so far, we'll have to see how they progress....See MoreJJ So Cal special
Comments (70)I know most of the conversation on this thread is on the JJ's, but I picked up one of the 'generic' dwarfs from Hines nursery at Lowe's. As there were many others available (which are now all gone), and I wasn't satisfied with 'Plumeria Assorted', I contacted the nursery and they kindly replied within 24 hours with the following: "Plumeria âÂÂDwarf Singapore Pinkâ (Plumeria obtusa) This new dwarf hybrid of Singapore Plumeria is a seedling mutation from Plumeria obtusa. If kept warm and in bright light, it will remain evergreen, keeping its leaves. Also, it will flower all year. The plant is a dwarf, well-branched small tree that grows well in containers. Leaves are long, leathery and glossy green. Bloom clusters appear at the terminal tips of branches." I'm putting that to the test here in So Cal! It was transplanted after a day at the house at it was water logged after being purchased and now sits in a mix of 1/3 Perlite, 1/3 Pumice, and 1/3 Big R. Time will tell. Cheers! Comments (50)Oh, I think I may have accosted the same guy and accused him of being Bobthewizard! He must have really wondered why people were calling him Bob? LOL. It sure would have been great to have met up with some of you! I looked for you Lynn! It was a great time watching everyone grabbing plants. I nearly stole a Queen Amber from some poor guy who was actually in line! He had so many plants around him I thought it was a display! LOL sorry to the guy in line:). Hum....I know who stole my Tesla Girl! Lnorigb...LOL. Great find I love that one! Queen Amber was really popular and I think gone 40 minutes into the open house! It is so much better in person, the photos I've seen just dont do it justice! Luckily, I snagged one! No, not from the guy in line:) So sorry to have missed y'all. But you know how it goes, the open house is like a feeding frenzy and once you get zeroed in on the plants the rest of the world fades away! I agree with lnorigb we need to get organized! :) Nicole...See MoreNo-Clue
