DEar Gman.Seing how loaded your fig is ,i see that you need urgent answer to your question: When eating figs, do you eat the whole thing, or just the insides? A:If Skin is good and flavorfull then is Edible. On some varieties it will be Bitter,and inedible,in that case avoid eating skin. Usually superior cultivars have very good tasting skin and showld be eaten all Except a little bit at the peduncle where is insipid.I hope this will answer your question.

got home from my trip only to find ripe pods

thanks for the support guys. I made chicken curry last night and dropped a thai in the pot to add some heat. the wife and I were quite disappointed by how hot it was, so we just diced up the hab and mixed it in. of course I had to try it by itself, so I just ate about a quarter of the hab on its own. it was really good, up until I wiped my eye later in the night. I really thought I had washed my hands well enough. lesson learned. I was so excited that my ghost finally set a pod. so when I got home from work, of course the first thing I did was go try to see if it had gotten any bigger. but I couldn't find it. ...until I looked on the ground under the plant. looks like I spoke too soon. though on the plus side the hab is beginning to have lil baby buds starting to be visible again. they're a good month away from becoming pods, but at least there's still hope that it'll turn around and become a champ again. now all they gotta do is survive the 2-3 hr ride in the moving truck.

it tasted ok. 5/10 rating. could have been better lol. skin is way to thick to just eat off the bush.

You can harvest birdseye green or red. Yes.. the skin is tougher when red, but the flavor is more developed. But the green ones still pack a punch and the skin isn't tough at all.

Those look real nice I think I'm gonna pick a few Thai today and see how they taste I don't have any red ones though.

That pod was maybe 3 inches. Big maybe.
It was labeled as birdseye when I got them but now I'm confused. I got 2 different "birdseye" from 2 different places....one looks like the first pod I posted and the other looks like an elongated hot cherry. The pods on both plants grow up. Which is the real birdseye?
