Im moving soon!

Hey guys, I thought I would update you on my move to KY (if anybody even cares,lol).

Anyway, we found a rental house because we didnt have much luck on a house to live in, so we are stuck in a rental. At least we can take our time looking at houses.

If we are in the renal through the spring and summer (I hope were not!) I wont be able to do any planting.

I have one more week of school in Ohio, and the movers are coming Dec.12. Im going to have to enlist in a school in Kentucky during Christmas break.

So, thats it. I thought I would update on whats gong on!

I hope you get to plant more fun stuff in KY than you did in OH. To which zone will you be moving to in KY?

Welcome to the Forum! Have a safe move to Texas. I lived in San Antonio for 8 years. It was lovely! For your list of animals- don't forget the armadillos! It did take a while to get used to the Texas attitude, but we just loved it after a couple of years. They are a proud and positive bunch. And love to fiesta!! And I don't think there is any place more beautiful than Texas when the bluebonnets are bloomin. Gorgeous!! Jean

My first thought was to span the space where they have the bookcase left of the fireplace with glass shelves, centering the TV on the wall where they have the two bookcase towers. You need a low credenza 25-50% wider than the TV to balance the wall and TV. Float your same seating pieces as you have them now, with the sofa facing TV and its back to the dining area. I advise you to replace the mirrored table with one adequately large to be useful and to be 18" from all the seats. If you still need side tables, they should be tall enough to be within 1" of the arms of a piece to be useful. The round garden stool could still be used but needs to be pulled to forward to the corner of the chair to be accessed. I would use the fluffy rug as a throw across one side of the sofa, and only in cool weather. A huge rug anchoring your seating group would really warm the room. Do exchange the box cornices for regular trim, and consider adding a pair of French style chairs and a game table by that area right of the fireplace. Coffee table + extra seating TV credenza

Glad to hear you are finally going to do the move with your family. Actually being in the rental house will be good. It'll give you time to witness all four seasons in your new location before you decide what to plant. Another good thing is that you can really observe the garden next winter to see if your new house has any nice south-facing microclimate that will protect windmills, sabal minor and needle palms. Once you select a good, protected spot, you can improve the soil with a good mix of compost, sand and soil to make a nice home for your palms for the new season.

Im so glad to hear that you are heading to KY!!!

Seems like it has been awhile since you were wondering where you all would move...Enjoy the time with your family!! Time really goes by so fast...

I agree with WS...use this time while renting to see what grows well in your area and focus on what you really want to grow and learn about soil, watering, ferlilizers. You can use this time to your advantage and really focus on the containers that you do have!!!

Making them stronger and healthier will bring you much joy!!!
