orangs spots on the underside of some leaves

Hey Guys...Newbie here in Va. needs some advice...Today I noticed some bright orange spots on the underside of some of the leaves...not to many but it is noticable....with my inspection of all of my plants on a daiy basis...LOL Is it the orange rust that I had seen on some old postings? If so what would you all suggest that I use? Thanks you all for any advice!!!

It probably is rust and at this time of year I would just remove the leaf and trash in a bag so spores cannot blow around. clean around the base of the plant and keep an eye on it. I only spray early in the season and not in the last part. Bill

Thanks Bill for your advice...Do you think that I am contributing to the spread by spraying them off every few days? I thought they would like the humidity as well as keeping down the mites...Should I hold off on spraying them down? It is in the low 90's here at the beach with a few afternoon showers... not much rain to really soak my plants...but enough to wet them down often...

Sounds like mold, perhaps from just to moist an environments. Is it sort of fuzzy and rubs off with the fingers? If so just drying out, good air circulation, and some good sun exposure will eliminate it. As an alternative, while I have no personal experience with it, some have posted they have sprayed the affected areas with baking soda (1 T in a quart of water) or with a 10% hydrogen peroxide solution. I wouldn't use the vinegar. The idea is to change the surface pH of the leaf so the mold can't survive. I would focus the spray only on the affected areas - avoid over-spraying as sometimes the "cure" can do more damage than the disease. Hope this helps. Dave

Hot lips is in a soil mix with bark, peat, and perlite. It is actually a fast grower for me. It has put out several leaves and vines since i got it a couple months ago. It has not bloomed. Denise i dont think the spots wipe off but i will try and get back to you.
