Any ideas? Maybe Teresa Wilder?

I got this as a skinny cutting last August in exchange for one of my plumeria. Never got a name and it never grew more than two or three new small leaves last year. This year, it is getting healthier but it's still a scrawny tree, although it has taken off in growth this summer. Before the grow started, it threw off an inflo, a hint of things to come when I get inflos off of this year's healthy growth.

So what do you think? Very fragrant, spidery, Reddish. Maybe a Theresa Wilder?

Well, glad to hear someone else likes the egg method. The large cutting you see in the post just before yours...(SIDEWAYS, so turn it 90 degrees) I got last late November and it was totally the wrong time of year. I put 2 eggs 2 inches under the cutting in a large 2-3 gallon plastic pot with 70% perlite and 30% cactus mix. I have superthrive in the water I water it thru once with. The bottom of the cutting is BARELY scored with a razor blade and then into the rooting compound of choice. This cutting had 3 large inflos coming and it never dropped one as it sat all winter in our south facing sunroom. I carried it outside this last April where it sat in that same pot till fully leafed out. I just 2 weeks ago put int into the ground. I have never heard of putting dead flowers in the soil???? can you explain that benefit please... roxanne

Lots of fun things in your package. Teresa sent me some cheese straw that were out of this world. I know you'll enjoy yours. Have you used the mini pans yet? I have some little pans similar to yours but I haven't used them. The first one of us to try a recipe in them needs to share, please. Can you tell that I think the first one might be you? L, it's not banana bread or muffins, but this is absolutely the best banana cake I've ever encountered. I don't even like bananas and I can eat this and Ashley says it's her favorite cake ever. It was posted here a couple of years ago, and is a Rose Levy Birnbaum recipe. I leave out the lemon, I've made it with a hand mixer instead of a stand mixer and I always grease and flour the pan because I bake it in a 9x13 pan and don't turn it out. Banana Cake (Rose Levy BerenbaumÂs Cordon Rose Cake) Jgarner-Cooking Forum (good as layer cake, elegant, delicate texture) mix together: sifted cake flour 2 cups (200 g) sugar 3/4 c + 2 Tbs (170g) baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 3/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp puree together: 2 large ripe bananas 1 c (227 g) sour cream 2 Tbs or up to 1/2 c (30 g to 121 g) 2 large eggs 2 (100 g) grated lemon zest 2 tsp (I left this out since I don't like the flavor of lemon with banana) vanilla 1-1/2 tsp soften: Butter 10 Tbs (5 oz) (142 g) Add butter and half of pureed mixture to dry ingredients in stand mixer and mix at medium with paddle for 1-1/2 minutes. Scrape bowl and add rest of banana mixture in two batches, mixing 20 seconds after each addition. Pour into 9"x2" round pan (I just lined the bottom with parchment, no spray or butter) and bake at 350 F for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes in pan and then turn out onto rack to cool completely. Hint: Use smallest amount of sour cream and 3 bananas for more pronounced banana flavor Cream Cheese Icing Cream cheese, softened 8 oz. Butter, softened 5 TBS (2.5 oz) Sour cream 1 Tbs Vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. Rum 1 Tbs Powdered sugar 1 1/4 C (5 oz) Process (yeah, the food processor) or beat cream cheese, butter, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth. Add powdered sugar and pulse until smooth. Makes enough to frost the top of a 9x13 sheet cake. The redwork is so much fun to do, simple and relaxing. I have been using the split stitch as my stem stitch seems to wobble and not lay flat. I have a lovely soft, old linen tablecloth that has lots of wear and stains. I started cutting it up for napkins years ago and added a lace trim around the edges. Finished those recently and now have 8 new linen napkins! This old linen is what I'm using for the redwork. You can also use muslin or any tightly woven white fabric. Some stitchers use tiny red prints on white, but I like the look of the simple red on white. I plan to make a small wall quilt with the girl in the middle, the scissors block above and a third block of an old-fashioned sewing machine below, add some red borders and do minimal quilting. Also think I will do a baby quilt with red/white 4-patch blocks and some redwork embroidered blocks mixed in. It is easy to find some cute patterns for free on the internet. There are also redwork tutorials to help you get started. I'm hooked......

Thanks for the suggestion Joshua, but I think Bill and Laura have it, looks more Teresa Wilder-ish... we'll see what the flowers look like when it gets more established.

Hi Mike..

I wish we had time to meet you in Huntington Beach!! Would have liked that. Did you go to the SCPS ? We visited Bill and Bud and had a fabulous time on the water viewing the boats in the harbor.. ( Huntington Beach ). Had dinner at a awesome restaurant on the water. Bud and i had fish and chips at Bills suggestion.. glad i listened. delicious!! It went by to fast, but made it home safely and no injuries to any trees packed to send Home!!

Roxanne had a get together at her beautiful home In Ventura.. Another awesome night of good spirits, food and meeting new plumeria friends!! Truly a time to remember in Cali. Hi tech is right. My head was spinning at all of the beautiful sights.. Loved it!

Had my hands on a Typhoon at JJs. But I felt like I had to many.. Argh? Can you believe that? Must have been the heat.. Even Bill mentioned to me that I should be adjusted to the humidity you guys had while there. It was HOT!! I was even tempted to put the cooler ice on my head at JJs. Lol... His boys were selling drinks and hotdogs. To cute..

My hubby would never believe I put one back.. Lol. ... But, Things happen!! ;-). I did say one!! Must have been delirious!!! Lol. Had a ball out there in your neck of the woods.. Truly is a paradise...

Thanks for the offer Mike but I am Maxed out. My plants are now battling for the sun and growing way too fast. I have tried to stop growing but "friends" keep slipping me ones I cannot resist and now I need more land to keep what I have. Thanks anyway. Bill

Sounds like a great time, if short. You saw the best of OC and plumeria while you were here. I didn't make it to the meeting, 95 miles was a long drive to go solo, but I spent the weekend in the garden and getting ready for a business trip to the midwest. Sorry you gave up that Typhoon. Maybe one day I can help you rectify that mistake ;)

I know exactly what you mean about trees growing up. I figure I need at least an acre, maybe in Costa Rica or somewhere south that I can fill up with all sorts of green things - I think I am up to the challenge :) As it stands, I'll need to do triage soon and thin the herd I have here, especially this year's experiments with trying to root multiple cuttings from some of the trees I have.
