Merry Christmas to all my gardening friends.

I suspect many of you are buried under ice and snow this find morning.....just hope you still have power and internet!

In spite of the weather, I hope your day is filled with the blessings of good food, family and friends you love surrounding you.

We had a total of 14 inches of snow in OKC - unprecedented. This is definitely one for the history books.

I hope you are doing okay in SW Missouri. I am very familiar with that area having grown up in Neodesha and Independence, Kansas, where my family still resides. Are you near Joplin? So pretty there and in SE Kansas. Wish I had paid more attention to the local wildlife when I was young.

My birds were still consuming food yesterday amidst all the rain and snow. I have somehow got to make it outside to feed them today and give them some fresh water.

I got some popcorn to pop for them. Figured I could just toss some around in the yard for the ground feeders.

Once this all starts to melt, the plants and trees will get a very nice drink of water.

Here's hoping the best for you and yours this Christmas and New Year's.

Belated Merry Christmas to all. Especially to Triciae, who was on my mind a lot this holiday and will be during future holidays. Dear Wonder Woman, I hope you are doing well, where ever you are. Thank you for showing me what courage and strength and kindness are. We drove down to the Bay Area for the holidays. Christmas Eve we had dinner with our good friends in Berkeley, raw oysters with mignonette, cracked crab, and the traditional Buche de Noel. Last night we had dinner with other good friends in Richmond, tenderloin, mashed potatoes and a warm cauliflower-brussel sprout salad. I made half of the tenderloin, cut pieces 1" thick and tied them into rounds, pan cooked, with a sauce of reduced white balsamic vinegar, Muscat wine, shallots and garlic, butter, sauteed mushroom stems, blended smooth, then simmered over whole mushroom caps. No recipe, just made it up. Our hostess roasted the rest of the tenderloin with a red wine and shallot reduction. We were supervised by a friend who is a head chef at a large hotel and, for the first time in many years, didn't have to work on Christmas day, but was nonetheless pressed into service which he did with good humour. I've been negotiating a stressful matter at work for the past few weeks. As of Dec 24, we were uncertain whether our little business unit would be shut down and I had prepared myself to be jobless come Jan 1st. That all got resolved satisfactorily at noon on Christmas Eve, final document review pending, so for the first time in a month, I was able to relax and unclench. It was nice.

Glad to see everyone made it through the storm safely. Pray everyone's holiday season is filled with many blessings. I'm blessed with all the caring friends I have here on the forums, at work and the many others, a loving caring family, plenty to eat and a warm place to live. So thankful for all. God Bless to all. Susan we are quite a way from Joplin. We live about 20 miles northwest of Springfield, Mo. We are in Greene Co.

I have been hearing all about the Oklahoma weather on the news....we are feeling pretty lucky here.

Merry Christmas Everyone! Glad the sun is shining, although the dogs are still hesitant when it's time to go out. It's cold out there! But, the snow is beautiful, and it's unusual for us to have a white Christmas. I agree with Linda... it's one for the history books.
