Maybe it's a lady beetle larva? Maybe not?

There are hundreds of these guys on my pepper plants, both bell and arizona peppers. They range in size from slightly bigger than a black ant to about the size of a tick. They are spiky for sure, and have a pointy tail. Are they lady beetle larva, or something more evil?
