Final garden pics of the growing season.

Well the garden is starting to go down hill! A few cold nights and one of my Siam Rubys had cold damage to the foilage. So right after these pics were taken several EE's and bananas which I do not wish to protect will be dug up and potted. Then I will have to get the rake out and start to clean all of the maple leaves out of my yard. Can't believe it's already Fall:(

A windmill I am trying to get to grow with a lean.

Sabal palmetto tifton hardy is remarkable fast growing even for being in a pot. It has grown 5 fronds this summer. 2 of which were split.

My opuntia imbricata has been slow to take.

This windmill suffered spear pull. But still is very sick and I am not sure if it will make it through the winter.

Nice pics, especially that musella!! Im trying my Musa Velutinas in the ground this winter with protection so I'll post how they do! If they can survive here, they defintiely can handle anything. I cant say that I will definitely leave them in the ground, because I might decide last minute to just dig them up. We'll see!
Thanks for sharing. Sad to think they will all be inside or gone when the cold weather comes, but its a good way to just start fresh in the spring!

Everything looks great Chad,those Siam are awesome.

Your Imbricata will go nuts next year if it gets through winter.

Definitely something up with that Trachy looks like the leaf
blades are closed up and it may have some root damage.

You may want to dig that one up if you want to save it.

Thanks! Stuffradio, the Pac Choi is actually Fordhook Giant Chard. :) I love the galvanized tubs as well loribee! IMO they cant be beat for the price. They should last a long, long, time. Hopefully my lettuce doesn't bolt in the heat we are expecting this week! I have misters set up to try to keep them cool!

HI Everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments! I love photography & gardening- I think they go hand in hand. Shawn & Mary: Lasagna gardening is a method of no tilling gardening.. You lay a degradeable weed barrier ( I like to use cardboard, which attracts worms & will break down in the future, so that the plants will grow down thru it) You then assemble large quantities of moist organic materials- manures, leaves, hay, etc, & layer them 6 inches deep on top of each other, til it's about 1 foot high, finishing up with compost. If you have enough of everything, you can complete a bed in 1 day, including planting your transplants right in... I experimented with cow manure vs horse manure combined with sawdust bedding. (both were UN -composted, & did NOT burn my plants!) The cow manure stayed moist under the layers of leaves & pine straw, & I hardly had to water or fertilize at all.. The plants planted in the cow manure lasagna beds were 4x the size as plants in the horse manure lasagna beds. These beds dried out way too fast, & I had to constantly water them til the plants took hold. I will say this- if you plan to lay out a lasagna bed over a lawn, like I did, make sure that you use 2 layers of DRY cardboard over it. I didn't, & I am battling with crab grass, something fierce! It does pull out easily, but I have SO much of it, & so little time.. I'm sure it will do nicely next to a fence line.... It's really important to put an edge around your garden, whether you did a moat (like I do) or lay down a black rubber one, to save you time in keeping weeds & grass out of your gardens.. I am planning to buy the black edging. To really research Lasagna gardening I did a simple google search- there is so much info out there! This is my first year implementing this method in my gardens. I love where we live, out in the country on a small pie shaped acre...... (I have a little slice of the pie!) Yes, these shots were taken about 6:30 am..... The pink flowers on either side of my blue butterfly stepping stone are Maiden Pinks- a clump perennial that doesn't divide at all! I tried, & half of it died! the blue Iris were rescued from the woods, I had no idea what color they would be when I planted them. muktowngal... Thank you (and others) for your complements. I think I'm around 480 varieties... a few duplicates, but still, under 500 total. The large garden in the panorama has most of the varieties in it... around 400. The neighbor...they moved in a year before us and the previous owners left them a few hosta. That S&S in the pic was a puny 1-eye and was not doing well. It's grown so much in the 5 years since we've been here. Almost all of their others were added around 2008-09. I gave them the Royal Standards in that pic, and a few others that are not in the photo. I plan to thin out a few of my duplicates and will probably give them some more, since they're willing takers! Both my neighbors are good about keeping a nice landscape and I'm thankful for that. My rear neighbor... not so much.

Alex, I ended up leaving a few of those musa veluntinas in the ground. They were offsetting so good that I figured it wouldn't hurt!

Jim you might be right. If you can remember, there use to be another trachy growing from the base of that one. It was much larger with about 2' of trunk. Now whats left of that trachy is starting to rot away and leaving air pockets in the soil. Not sure of the outcome here. But I hope the little guy pulls through. He is a rare looking trachy!

I wonder if the other one was the main plant,
has there been any growth at all out of this one?

Both had spear pull in march. The smaller one recovered after 2 weeks of provide treatment. The first front is the cut one. The second never fully extended. Now there is a spear coming out but haven't seen any growth in some time.

The larger Trachy did not respond to the provide. After a month I trunk cut it. It was infested and rotted after 2 months and I was forced to put it down.

It was a month ago I noticed pits around the trachy. Assuming the larger one is rotting cause there is no sign of infestation.

JoelVal- Thanks, I ordered the Siam Ruby from Plants Delight nursery out of Raliegh. If they overwinter well, I will have several babys that can be separated. They are not hardy here and I am not sure about how well they will survive inside during the winter. But if they make it your welcome to get some of mine.
