Spider mite treatments

It looks like a few of my larger indoor peppers have spider mites...fine webbing with tiny crawling critters in them that look to have 8 legs....though they are hard to see even with a hand lens. Fortunately the plants were not near other plants. From the info I've found it looks like I should spray them with water, rub the leaves some, trim off badly infested leaves, and then repeat a few times several days apart. Most of what I read indicates chemicals, both organic and non organic, are not very helpful.

What treatments have you used? How effective was it? I'd like to save the plants if possible.
