How large do lantana grow in containers?
Comments (1)As long as you have a very porous potting medium, offer your lantana consistent fertilization and watering then I'd expect this plant to reach somewhere around that size during the growing season....See MoreGrowing pumpkins in Large Container
Comments (16)I know this an older forum, but when I found it I figured I'd try it for myself. I started on June 26th planting 4 Burpee Jack-O-Lantern seeds in a large container. I also put 2 seeds into a plastic back with a wet paper towel... much like we did in Kindergarten. I drilled very small holes all the way around the bottom of the container to drain excess water. You can see seedling sprouting I came across another container and decided to transplant 2 seedlings to the new one, along with the 2 from the bag. Very healthy plants... At the start of Week 5 I will be having the vines start running outside of the containers. I'll keep this updated....See MoreQueen Palm vs mule palm (hardiness)
Comments (11)Njoasis, I may get the mule pal on ebay for 30 bucks. But in the case of a queen palm, if I used mulch burlap around the trunk with x-mas lights under it, would it be enough? I would also throw a garbage bag over the fronds if necesary. Is there anyway that maybe from the cold, it will stop growing at maybe 10 feet? The mule palm gets to 20 so out here it might stop at 10-15 feet. So thats easy to protect. I would protect it the same way as the queen palm except I wouldn't cover the fronds....See MoreCan Queen Palms live in a container?
Comments (3)My 35 footers are awaiting planting as we complete major construction in our backyard. The wind is a problem so I have them tied down for now but will be planting them after the outdoor room and pool is finished. I believe you should just plant yours as well. The roots will just find their way around the concrete and are not large enough to break the pool. Once they get 10+ ft tall the pot will have to be pretty wide and heavy -- not because they need the space but so the wind doesn't blow them over. Queens grow tall and slender. I have a neighbor who has some planted in his waterfall between the niches in the rocks. The roots have just found space to stretch out and have caused no damage. As far as palms are concerned, queens grow pretty quickly. If you are worried about them outgrowing their space you might want to consider Sago palms. They grow very slowly and take very little space. If you are in a more tropical climate the Alexanders are awesome as well and also take very little space.
