I'm so glad to see that others can grow this, because I very much like the looks of it. As with most white-centered, we have such bad luck, and in this case have given up. It may easily be because there's just not enough chlorophyll to survive here in Zone 4. Or . . . ? The exception to the rule here is 'Night Before Christmas', thank goodness we can have at least one white-centered one. Thanks for a very interesting and fun garden layout! hh

prefix: here we go into pepper naming and OP seed land. Hi roadkill, I grew both Ring of Fire and Dragon's Claw. My Ring of Fire grew in as a hotter cayenne type but the usual dull cayenne taste. My Dragon's Claw grew to produce fruit that was 4" - 6" long (with the claw hook at the end). They were tangy but not hot. In my experience, Ring of Fire = hot, Dragon's Claw = taste. FWIW, Bill

Usually a watering schedule of almost any regular time and amount of water a plant gets used to. If pods had already set then they got extra water-rain,the rain could have split the pods. It might have been the extra water from the rain that did it. The plants were just pigging out on the extra water. Peppers usually do pretty good with less water than tomato plants for instance. It's usually the extra water the plants aren't used to that splits already formed pods. If your plants look healthy I'd leave your watering schedule alone.It must be OK.It probably was the rain that did the pod splitting. Your peppers will be hotter and taste better with less water too. I'd leave things alone as long as your plants look healthy. It sounds like you are doing things all right to me. I'd bet with your watering schedule there is moisture under ground even though the surface looks dry between waterings. I'd only up the waterings if the plants started to dry out and look unhealthy.
