The light color appears to be from the graft down. Is this just a normal difference from a light color root to a dark color graft above? I'm curious to see what the more experienced growers say.

Probably you don't have to replace the dirt entirely (though I suppose technically it shouldn't hurt anything, either). It *should* be enough to let the soil get drier between waterings. That said, I probably would try new dirt with this one, myself, because if it's getting direct sun all day and it's still staying wet enough to grow mushrooms, you probably need soil a good deal looser and airier than what you've got now. Either that or you don't have drainage holes in the bottom of the pot (you *do* have drainage holes in the bottom of the pot, right?). Try something about three parts soil out of the bag, one part perlite. For the record: this won't necessarily stop the mushrooms. I had a plant that grew mushrooms all the time despite being in a pretty perlite-heavy mix. But that one was exceptional in all kinds of other ways, too.

Grew 11 devils tongue plants last year. Ordered 10 seeds, received 11, and was very lucky and all 11 germinated. Very similar to fatali, but more aromatic & HOTTER. I was very pleased with this pepper. I kept seed from my peppers, and this year had problems with germination, not just from devils tongue, but all of the seeds I planted. I have to attribute it to the use of a starting mix with a higher % of PEAT, as that was the only variable this year as opposed to the last 4 years I have done this. The last 3 years I averaged 90% germination on all my peppers with exeption of the Chiltepins which was still about 75%. This year I averaged only 60% germination. Hope this helps.

sounds exciting. :) peppers looks like they're coming along. good form and no yellow in your bhut. congrats. so not to pick but what are those black spots on the leaves of pic #4 and hole in leaf in pic #2. make sure to check for insects on the undersides of leaves. they're often harder to spot when in larvae form...tiny green catepillar blending/attached along the veins of the leaf.
