Hi all-

This is my first post and I just wanted to shear my experience I had with Jungle JackÂs Plumeria this past weekend.

Right now I have four PlumeriaÂs that are about 5 years old and a few cuttings from those mother plants that are rooting.

I also have received a hand full of cuttings I got off ebay and some I picked up from a meeting of southern

California Plumeria society, but over the last weekend my girl and I went to check out Jungle JackÂs. We had such a

wonderful time just walking thru the green houseÂs there on the grounds and looking at all of the beautiful plumeria.

I bought a 3 gal. California Sunset in full bloom and a 1 gal. Sunset that is just getting ready to bloom. My girl wanted

one of their purple jackÂs but we didnÂt have enough cash with us so we are going back this weekend to pick one up.

If you live in San Diego and get a chance you should for sure check out Jungle Jacks. We were blown away.

Welcome to the Forum!!!

That is a beautiful California Sunset that you purchased from JJ's!! I bought one from them last year and it has not bloomed for me...but seeing that wonderful pic, makes me even more anxious for mine to flower!!!

Absolutely gorgious!!!

You can also find a nice selection of JJ at SoCal Home Depot stores. Many are 'Premium' labels, but some are named plants, such as Mini White, Cal Sunset and Divine.

Thank you Lonnie!!! I love this one too!! Dave. You are to funny!! It even got darker in my heat here in VB!! It a compact as well. Some other info I copied for you to see... Xquisite. Medium sized blooms. 2.5-3.5 inches. Rounded slightly overlapping petals. Vibrant rainbow colored blooms which actually can appear all red in high heat. Colors change as the blooms fade to a purple color. Gorgeous white veining throughout. Medium sweet/fruity fragrance. A New JJ Variety, mostly all with inflos!!! A must have! I love mine.. Bought it in Cali and shipped it home FedEx., I packed them And they did great!! I am Still Chuckling at you!! ;-) Wendi !! They were finding them in Home Depots when the ship,emits arrived for 20 dollars. Yikes. I bet you will be able to find one next season at a good price too! You need one!! Enabler in action!!! Congrats on the seed pod! I would go nuts if I saw a seed pod in the store! I went to Home Depot yesterday and used the last of my gift card balance on a 2 gallon Mandalay. I couldn't find any information about this one except on JJ's own website. I decided to take a chance on it because the description states very strong sweet scent. I'm realizing that I prefer plumerias with scent versus pretty flowers without scent. This flower is suppose to be pretty too. The tag photo of Mandalay kind of reminds me of a darker version of Desert Sunrise but with less veining. I also saw a Thai Splash but I had to limit myself to 1 plant. I walked around the store and saw there was another display table with various tropical plants and I saw some plumerias on it. These were 1 gallon size and $15.98 but they were not Jungle Jacks. There were pictures of various flowers on the tag and most of them had a white flower circled. They were infested with spider mites. :( It reminds me of when I went to the Lowes in Vista. They had a great selection of JJs not often available but they were infested with thrips. Now, I always carefully inspect the tips and underside of leaves before I purchase.

Lowe's Waterford Lakes (Orlando) had a bunch there today, and it looked like a brand new shipment. No real rare varieties were there. The ones I did see were Desert Sunrise, Inca Gold, Red Jack, Super Round, and Jubilee

Well they arrived today in Ventura and Oxnard Ca. Ventura store is an A class rated store. Oxnard is like a Cplus...so notice the difference in amount received. Ventura received about 40 early this morning and Oxnard received 12 afterwards. However, all of the 12 in Oxnard had their labels on...more than half in Ventura did not...no label at all and most of these were the bigger blue pots.. Poor John, he has no control over the delivery guys that toss them around. Just imagine how many times the plants have been picked up and moved. The selection was mostly Jubilee...some red jack, xquisite,rhonda and a lot of PREMIUMS. Meaning you have no idea what one it is.... Great shipment all in all for the beginning collector. His plants are always so healthy.

Very nice plumeria! Im waiting for my divine to open up its first blooms which should be really soon. They are pretty fast growers but they dont grow as tall as they do wide.
The california sunset really looks like a beautiful plumeria. I like the way that it holds on to so many blooms at once.

Your Ca. sunset looks really nice. I told myself that this year I will not buy any plumerias. Oh well, what did I say? Went to HD and bought one Jungle Jack's "premium" rainbow. The description for this premium rainbow matches up to JJ's Thumblelina plumeria.

I went to Home depot on Saturday to get some gopher traps "they worked and I got that lil sucker last night and have pictures if anyone wants to see them" and they had alot of nice JJ's in 1 gal pot's for $13.00. Must all of them were blooming and looked real nice. I went back Sunday because I started to think about how nice they were and all of the real nice one's were gone. I asked the guy working there if they had moved them but he said they sold.

Hello konatiki - Did you get the black box trap? For 5 longs years I battled with gohpers. Cried every time I lose a plant. Then got the black box from one of the many local feed stores and wha-lah...gophers be gone!!

Home Depot and Lowes carries plumerias from 3 different vendors; CStars nursery in Gardena, Hines Nursery in Fallbrook and Jungle Jacks in Vista or is it Fallbrook? So be sure to check the labels. Happy hunting.

I just bought the normal spring type traps and I used a piece of WrigleyÂs juicy fruit gum on the trigger of the trap. My cat would be proud. I'm still trying to nail a ground squirrel that's eating my rose roots.

I heard JJ in Vista is having an open house on 7/10/10. Anyone have info?
