I am surprised that not more people have this one. This is the most fragrant plumeria that I own. The flowers are huge and gorgeous... and they bloom well too.

I'm glad to hear this coming from someone with such a huge collection! ;)

How would you describe the scent?

I scored one on eBay and am anxious to have it bloom however mine has rust so now I get to research rust fungus on plumerias. Plumeria101 suggested taking off the infected leaves and using GreenLight's 'Fung-Away'.
I'm going to see if Neem oil will also work. :)
So much to learn being a newbie.

Hi Robert,

Sorry to hear about rust... do you know how it got rust? Hopefully you can get it under control.

To me Scentsational smells like Jasmine. It's the only plumie that I have that I don't need to stick my nose in to be able to smell. At night when all my windows and slider door are opened I can smell it all the way in my bedroom! Or if I'm sitting outside reading I can smell it too. LOVE!

You lucky ducks!! OMG! What fantastic finds! Yes, K2, that was worth the 90 minute drive--good-looking plants and great cultivar choices. Mike, from what I hear the Divine is a must-have. Don't know much about the others but I doubt you can go wrong with JJ's. Now why can't we get those at nurseries in Texas? I think there must be a mafia of Texas NOID plumeria growers keeping JJ's out because NOIDs are everywhere in the summertime. Probably a good thing for me JJ's isn't sold close by, actually, LOL!

Thanks everyone, frogview, my wife told me not to dig up any more grass when I explained my plan over the weekend about planting some fruit trees to act as a buffer from the neighbor's house. Mike I have not grown these JJ Thai cultivars long enough to know but my thought at this point is they behave differently when they are young. My Thumbalina grew two feet before blooming but now it is blooming on a couple of inches growth. Laura, I learned to drive on a Beetle too- it is funny because they aren't hard to drive, but at the same time I have always thought you could drive anything if you started on a Beetle. You do learn to get in step with the car's character, maybe that is the secret? I just now got around to cutting part of the Miami Rose back. It has bloomed 3, maybe 4 times on one tip and never branched! Must have been like a 10 foot tip. What a beast is all I can say... must be a relative of bamboo.

Not to pile on, but I too had a horrible customer service experience with John at Jungle Jack's. The details are not important--this is not about trashing him personally--but I do think that when you are the owner of a business, and you are in receipt of a customer's payment but have not yet completed delivery of the goods to that customer, and days and weeks go by and you don't communicate with that customer, and you simply ignore the customer's polite, patient, repeated requests for information--it's just lame, IMO, and bad business. And if you don't like customer service, or you're too busy to handle that side of the business, then hire someone to take care of it. I would never ever recommend dealing with the company directly--I don't care how nice their plants are. I have never done something like this before, and I feel kind of funny about it. But when I saw Manuel's post, it all came rushing back--how egregiously offensive the whole dealing was, how poorly it was handled. At least now I know that it wasn't personal--whew! And, I do think this is how the free market system is supposed to work. I'm the first one to shout praise for a business that treats me right as their customer. As for JJ's, maybe they'll figure it out...maybe not. Anyway, this is my first post on here, although I've been watching, reading, learning, silently for the last year and a half. My first blooms should open within a week. Thanks to all of you for the tons of useful information in this forum. Greg

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, but on my third year of plumerias. We went to the show last year and this year. Since we are kinda new, we aren't to picky about which one/type yet so we went on Sunday at 2:00, so there was only two hours left of the show. Let me tell you last year there was plenty to pick from, this year, there was almost nothing left! JJ was the only one who had quite a few left. So that being said a couple vendors were offering to make a deal with the couple that they had left. My husband and I each went with $50.00 to spend, of course we brought the checkbook just in case!! Right away my husband struck a pretty good deal with two of the larger plants that were outside on the patio. The seller marked them both down right away for a total of 45.00 for both, one white and yellow, one yellow and white, both with current inflows and both having an inflow about to open! So then it's my turn, we have plenty that are one to two years old, I kinda wanted one larger one and no more white and yellow. I already have three JJ's... but they do seem to be my strongest plants so why not another one, again a lot of small ones, a couple larger ones for $100, but that over my budget.. so I was going to settle for one for $40.00, I don't even remember what is was, and John saw me and said, no don't get that one, take this one, it was a Rio, with an inflow about to bloom, it was marked $55.00, but he marked it down to $40.00. Still white, but has colored edges, he showed me in the catalog. So I was happy. Then I came across the Aztec Gold, I loved the smell, but they only had a little one left, but the vendor automatically took $5.00 off for me. So for going at the last minute we are very happy with our afternoon at the sale. We left at exactly 100 with a good group of plants. The two on the left are the ones my husband got for a total of 45.00, the one in the back is a JJ Divine for my mother in law, she loves mine, the little one in the front is the Aztec Gold, and the one on the right is the JJ Rio!

It came from Florida and I read that last year's mild winter is causing rust issues. I read how to mix baking soda and Neem oil together to help keep it under control. :)

Wow! Love your scent description. I'm growing them for scent and it's good to know I have a cultivar that wafts!

Yep me too! Fragrance is very important to me.

Charlotte Ebert is also very strong in scent. So is my NOID (which Freak thinks is Tiger from Thailand). Tipsy and Rhonda are also very sweet smelling. I love them!

Ha! You're a bad influence. ;)

So far I've-
California Sunset (love the peach coconut scent)
Divine (so far it has a light floral scent)
Celadine (hasn't bloomed)
Scentsational (hasn't bloomed)
Inca Gold (huge flowers and surprisingly a sweet scent)
Dwarf Decidous White (hasn't bloomed)
Phet Pachara (hasn't bloomed)
and soon Bangkok Fire.

Fortunately I don't get attached to plants and can give them away to make room for more highly scented ones like Charlotte Ebert! I've been curious about its strong perfume like scent and you're not making it easier. :)

LOL... so sorry Robert. But Charlotte Ebert is a must if you like strong scent. It was my most expensive plant to date... I didn't now any better so I paid $99 for 2 gal! Because I couldn't stop sniffing it! LOL...

I like Inca Gold's scent too. If you like sweet scent you should consider Rhonda . It's likes to show off a bit too. Flowers are huge and lots blooming at the same time. I love it!

You really aren't making my addiction easier!
Fortunately Brad's price for Charlotte is way cheaper than $99! But it's good to know that its scent is worth that much. :)

When i got mine last year It was towards the end of its blooming cycle so I didnt get to enjoy it too long. I do remmeber the scent was very strong. For whatever reason JJ isnt pushing it anymore. Still waiting for mine to bloom. My Delightful has pushed an inflo so thats cool

its has 4 tips now. It was a single tip with inflo this time last year

Oh, look, it's one of those threads that tests my self-control. Must resist buying a Charlotte Ebert... :O

I am not having any luck finding Scentsational locally. For the past month, I've visited every Lowes and HD within a 7 mile radius and I mostly see Premium Pinks or Premium Yellow-Whites. I've only come across a total of two Premium Whites this year, one had skinnier leaves which I assume might be Ken White but this one has leaves that looks more like Scentsational, but the markings are very peculiar. I had a friend email Jon about it and he wasn't sure either.

Does anyone think this could be Scentsational? On the stem is says SW2 or SWZ and then has a W written a few inches below that.

Musaboru, looking at your leaves they don't look like mine. :( Mine are darker green and much longer. Where as yours is wider and but shorter. So I would say it's not a Scentsational.

I also bought a Premium White at HD hoping it would be Scentsational... but then I couldn't wait around for it to develop an inflo so I just went to JJ and picked up a blooming Scentsational and crossed that off my Wish List.
Patience is NOT my greatest virtue that's for sure.

If I have to pick btw Charlotte Ebert and Scentsational... I would go w/ Scentsational. Mine are blooming like crazy and I can smell the fragrance anywhere in my yard, kitchen or bedroom if windows are opened. I also LOVE the size of the flowers (large), the pristine white color (reminds me of Magnolia) and how well it blooms.

No matter what I'm doing when I get a whiff it makes me smile and beckons me to come out and admire its beauty. Pure love. :)

Have a Charlotte Elbert that's at least 14 feet tall with multiple brances. The deep pink color, the 4 inch flowers and scent is very strong and sweet. It had the strongest scent in my collection....before I bought two JL Scentsational. I can smell it's flowers several feet away, not a tall grower and both plants have produced at least a hundred blooms this year and are still producing. Can't go wrong with either plant.

The day will come when I will be after a Scentsational but for now I'm wanting Charlotte Ebert -really- bad! LOL
I don't know why I'm so obsessed with getting one when I have ordered cuttings from other places instead of going after the CE someplace else. Anticipation maybe? :)

To me, Scentsational smells just like a Stargazer lily, or maybe an Easter lily. It's marked 'FW' on the stem, for 'Fragrant White'
