31 Degrees in Marietta (45 Was Forecast)

It was shockingly cold here last night.....would you believe 31 degrees? Our Wunderground Forecast had been for 43-45, and our local TV station said about the same, so I was expecting maybe 36 to 38 since we're in a low-lying area. Thirty-one degrees is a tiny bit of a shock.

DH told me at 3 a.m. that frost was forming and I was sort-of like, "Oh, well.....". Still, when I woke up at 8 a.m. and saw ice on the bedroom window's screen, I knew we'd been very cold.

Outside, I found a heavy hard frost on everything. The 'ice' is so thick on the car windshield that you have to scrape it off with an ice scraper. Depending on how long the frost sat on the plants, my fall gardening season probably ended last night.

This is the reason I never really trust the forecasts, and always expect to go colder at night than what they say. (The first year or two here was pretty tough until I realized that, in our low-lying microclimate, we would ALWAYS go colder than the forecast.)
