Reversable POSSIBLE Root Rot?

Continuing from my last post, I have the following:

(all came bare root)

-1 Sabal Palmetto Birmingham, 3 fans approx. 18" in length

-1 T. Takil (Kumaon Palm), 5 leaves, approx. 12" in length

-2 T. Takil (WIndmill Palm), 3 leaves, approx. 8" in length

-5 R. hystric (Florida Needle), 3 leaves each, approx. 8" in length

-5 Sabal Palmetto Louisiana, 3 leaves each, approx. 8" in length.

They were planted in Miracle Grow Potting Soil with drainage holes in the botom of the planters. The leaves are turning brown and dying pretty quickly now. Even with no rain or watering, the potting soil is still very damp. Pulling out one of the brown, dead leaves, the root was very wet, yet appearing viable so I replanted it.

Is it possible that the potting soil is holding too much water on its own and that is causing the browning and wilting or is this just a normal thing with such young plants and I am over reacting? I am willing to repot in a better draining soil if that will help any or bring them all back into the house

Anything? I dont want to loose even one palm if at all possible.

Thanks to all for any and all help, from a newbie.
