hi Susan i have also tried neem,sulfer and a product called M-Pede,i have had no luck myself with any of the above sprays,like you i have spider mites all over every one i own,we just want to help our babies.

Susan how big are your plants? If they are a managable size you can try to wash them by hand using cotton balls dipped in diluted rubbing alcohol/liquid soap then rinsed with clean water for a few days. This was one of the few winters I didn't have a spider mite infestation on any plants. Good luck.

Some of these are at least two year old plants but most are cuttings... I have tryed water spraying and all the other things so I will give this a try with the alcolhol/and soap..Can I do this to the cuttings that have either claws or leaves coming out? The leaves start to come then they turn brown and come off from the darling little critters...LOL Thank for any help.

You can use it on cuttings and rooted plants, just don't let the water run into the soil of the unrooted cuttings. I was asking about size because it's easy to hand wash a 2 or 3' plant but not a 5' one. You will have to wash them a number of times to get rid of the mites and continue to monitor for reinfestation.

Hello Susan, Here is my two pennyworth. While the plants had no leaves and were dormant in the winter I coated every single stem using a sponge with ordinary vegetable cooking oil (rapeseed) and I have absolutely no spidermite at all. I don't know if you are too late now if you have leaves as the oil might prevent the leaves from breathing. Perhaps someone with better knowledge can advise you. Good luck

I thought that was the idea of useing Neem oil that it let the leaves breath?? I am off work tomorrow and I plan to sit down with them and then make up my mind on weather to use what Karyn said to use or to use the neem oil... I don't know if I can wipe them and not get any water into the soil of the rootings but I am going to give it a try... I had no problems until I brought these into the house for winter..
Karyn, do I use alcohol/liquid soap for a few days in a row or do I use it once then rinse a few days in a row? It rained her lastnight so this may also help for the potted ones...

I use it for a few days in a row and sometimes retreat a couple weeks later. You can cover the soil with plastic and tilt the plant to the side so that water doesn't saturate the soil during the rinse. I'm not sure what the diffrence is between neem oil and horticultural oil besides the plant that it comes from. Horticultural oil is made with purified vegetable oil. At least the ones that I've looked at the labels have been. I wonder if a thin veggie or nut oil would do the same job?
