Sweetpotato Harvest 2010

Well we have begun digging the first of the sweetpotato crop. we have dug around 15 bushels of Cordner's Red (an Oklahoma heirloom) and they are absolutely beautiful this year. Cordner's Red is a great sweetpotato for early harvest and use. It's not the best keeping, variety, but usually good until spring. It's so easy to harvest, as it is a bush variety and doesn't run all over the garden. All the potatoes are directly under the plant. Deep dark purple-red skin and orange moist flesh. I am so proud to have brought this variety back from near extinction.
