Can a broken/bent stem of a monstera deliciosa be mended?
Comments (4)Wrapping it temporarily but tightly with grafting tape in the area of the injury should solve the problem if the damage isn't too bad. Water will still probably move upward readily through the xylem & wrapping the stem will help ensure the phloem will not dry out and that it will retain it's ability to transport photosynthate & growth regulators downward to roots. Comments (2)Danielle, Since the area above and below the break are "quite soft", I don't think it will heal. I'd use a sturdy pipe like conduit that's cut to about the same height as the tree and strap it at three or four points with plant velcro or tape, something you can adjust as the season goes on. It may take this summer and next to make a permanent change....See MoreDog bite on Plumeria Stem. Help!
Comments (3)Depends on how badly he damaged it...normally the plant will heal itself without too much assistance. Give it a couple weeks and see what happens....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...good luck....See Moreelucas101
