Comments (2)Do not attempt to kill bindweed by digging. Any pieces of roots you miss will keep growing. Pull as many seedlings as you can before they get their roots established. The thread below has the most sage advice I know for fighting this spawn of hell. Read the info from Bry84 toward the top of the page. Luckily, I moved away from bindweed - the easiest way to get rid of it! Sorry, I like charlie, no idea what to do but look & say "oooh how pretty!" Dandelions - just get a dandelion fork & fork 'em up from as deep as you can get. If you mow your grass a little higher, that can help. The taller grass makes more shade so they are less vigorous & easier to defeat. OK to go after these with a shovel in a flower bed. Comments (3)it's hard to tell exact problem you have. most obvious assumption of webbing might be spider, or spidermite, if it's spider it's friend, if it's spidermite, it's your enemy. with out picture's it'll be hard to tell. ants are the same way. most ants doesn't creat any problem in your garden, some spieces do. again, hard to tell which is which. also there are tone of different fungal disease. some are quite natural for a plant to get it and they do very minimal damage that you don't really have to worry about. some can kill a plant right a way, definatly more serious epidemic. long and short of it is that it is hard to know which is which and what or what not to worry about. the best is in prevention- if you have fungal problem, exam bed, is it too crowded? you need good air circulation so the moist don't get traped in between. watering should be done early part of the day. replacement of the fungacides.... it'll depends on what fugal disease you have. one solution doesn't work for everything. but it starts from getting rid of infected leave. or branch . make sure you don't leave any infected part on the ground, and disinfect the tool in between cuts. if they withstand losing some leaves and branches , then this fungal disease is nothing to worry about. it's ok to have some pest and disease in the garden as long as it's not out of control....See MoreWhat's the best way to get rid of bindweed???
Comments (219)I have lots and lots of bindweed all in my pachysandra and have come up with a solution to killing it without killing the pachysandra. I do use round up on the foam spray setting. First I gather up as many strands as I can in one clump andI put in into a slit in paper plate that I have cut one slit to the middle. It opens easily to put the bindweed on the plate . Then I spray it on the plate carefully using the foam setting. When dry I remove the plate and leave the weed for several weeks so it can get dead to the root. I will also try this on creeping Charlie. I have also used canes for the bindweed to crawl up and also tried putting a clump in a Baggie and the spray inside bag with roundup. That works but the paper plate is so much easier.Hope this helps someone else. I feel like I am going to get control after several years and hundreds or thousands of these vines!! lenette...See MorePotential cause / solution to mildew in kitchen drain
Comments (4)That Tee with the little divider that you are describing is properly called a "Baffled Tee" and it is a code requirement. Baffled Tee's are made in two varieties, a "Vertical Baffled Tee", which is used on the vertical line under the first sink on an "End Waste Kit" or a "Horizontal Baffled Tee", which is installed in the center portion of the horizontal line on a "Center Waste Kit". Both of the sink drains are open to atmosphere so the baffled tee so air can enter the pipe from either end therefore the baffled tee has absolutely no effect on air flow through the drain lines. The root cause of your odor problem results from the decaying action of a scum that forms on the inside of the pipes from cooking grease, food particles and soap. The buildup of the scum is even more pronounced when you have a disposal, not to mention that the scum also forms on the inner lining of the grinder cavity in the disposal itself however, there is a very simple and in-expensive remedy. First off, a disposal should be run a few moments at least once a day. With the water running, when you operate the disposal the water is splashed up inside the disposal body to help keep the offending food particles cleaned out. About once or twice a week you should run about a handful of ice cubes through the disposal. As the ice cubes grind up they help clean the inside of the disposal body and the cutter wheel. Not only does this help reduce the odor problem, it will actually prolong the life of your disposal. When you have an odor problem such as you describe you can eliminate it by adding two or three teaspoons of baking soda to the ice cubes....See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
