Might be overwatering too. If you haven't increased the sun it gets, it probably isn't sunburn. If the soil has been soggy lately you can pot it up into a larger pot with a mix that contains a fair amount of perlite. That will harm any fungus in the soil and help the plant, both giving it aerated soil and also bringing nutrients with the new soil.

I had it indoors for quite a while then recently after it stopped being cold i decided to place it outside where it will get more sun. It was doing well for a few days and then it started getting yellow and drying. I left it inside the pot in case something like this happened so i could bring it back in. The plant is only 3-4 inches, should i keep it indoors and use a light bulb to nurture it?

Did you harden off the plant well before setting it out in full sun. If the leaves are used to being under shop lights and then put in full sun it can burn the leaves. I would definately bring it inside under lights for most of the day while slowing exposing it to full sun starting with a few hours of shade a day for a few days then dappled shade before exposing it to any more full sun. Also, setting it out on a windy day without being hardened off can also dry out the leaves.

I had the plant on the window sill but i think it only got the early morning sun so the sun wasn't as strong. I'll keep it indoors for now until its leaves become healthier. Thanks.

I'm also in California, and I've had some Bhuts and other C. Chinese do the same thing. Despite being gentle (or not), the first bunch of leaves start to look pretty bad and eventually fall off. Smaller new leaves grow and then more shoots form. If I can keep the aphids off the new growth the plant recovers and looks great by May.

You may want to try epsom salts as a foliar spray. Sometimes this will green them up nicely. Be careful of leaves staying wet overnight, and watch for aphids. I think they will be fine after a few weeks of warm, sunny weather. Good Luck.

Yeah i just noticed that most of the leaves are falling off... but i saw that there where little baby leaves growing and a lot of them... so i'm hoping those will grow out and revive my poor little plant.

Thank you very much zanderspice for mentioning the aphids... after you mentioned them i went to check on my plant and then i found the little ugly things... i got my tweezers and had a bit of fun picking them off and killing them... my poor little plant... i'll keep an eye out for them to see if they come back. I hope i spotted them early... i only found about 10 or so. Thanks again.

I'm happy I could help. Aphids are the worst problem in my area. My plants go outside early because the nights are warm, but they don't grow very fast until May. In the meantime the aphids go after any new growth. It's still too cold for ladybugs, so I just have to wait it out, remove them manually, and sometimes use a spray (I like Mite-X). Once it's warm enough to release ladybugs, the aphids are under control in about 10 days. Good Luck.
