pepper seed starting: peat pellets to self wicking quickly?

Hi, this is my first post here.

I have an interest in the Guam boonie pepper and due in part to this post on GardenWeb, I decided to plant my precious pepper seeds in Jiffy peat pellets. So for now I have a classic 12 pellet Jiffy box in a windowsill in my computer room (the warmest room in the house).

The problem is, I go on vacation next week, and I'm coming to the conclusion that I have a little over a week to convert a stock 12 pellet Jiffy system into something self wicking.

Anyone have any experience or ideas on how to /cheaply/ turn this into a self wicking setup? If I can put together something homebrew that's a little more portable, a little cheaper, that's good. I suspect I could buy my way out of this problem but I can't entirely trust the mail at this point; too little time.

David.
