Hi Bill,
I too am confused. I was looking in my log. I brought out plants in April 2008, started watering, late April, transplant, feeding later..saw in log April got cold.

Here its March, have all ready watered all my plants, am transplanting. warm weather, nights warmer. What is to come in April? ha..We are two months early! Pretty flower.

We are early too...sort of. I was able to go out last weekend and rake the leaves out of my flowerbeds before the crocus's opened. That's never happened before. 'Course they are predicting a light snow this weekend....sigh

Beautiful flowers! Congrats. I'm still waiting for my first inflo to finish developing. It should be any day now.

Bill, Congrats, to you. I have inflo starting on a lot of plants and hope also for a backyard of flowers this summer. Not sure when I got my first flower each year but since most are out around the end of Feb. I would think that by early May I would have some blooming. I would guess April for me this year. I just love Spring, Barb

Those are really early and very pretty. Looks like Spring in some parts of the country, just not mine. lol I can't wait to see your other plumies in bloom.

most all of my plants are still very dormant. A few have their claws up, no inflos. I have not fed yet, only watered and gave superthrive and transplanted those that needed to go up a size.. We warm up and go cool. tomorrow winds..swift. Have given epson salts to those in the ground.

May take some of my smaller plants back on the porch if too windy. Kind of confusing weather.

That Marilyn's Golden Rainbow looks very nice! How's the fragrance on that one?

I have four inflos growing already as well and should have first flowers within a week. However, two of the inflos formed last fall and somehow remained intact through dormancy over winter. I've already put these plants in the ground and we are to have temps dipping into the mid-30s for a couple of nights so I'm going to have to cover them to try and protect them.

Freak-4-p. It is not a G.S. I am good friends with Bud and have a G.S. that he cut off his 55 year old tree (source of the orig. G.S.) for me years ago. The "golden rainbow" I got from Marilyn before she moved from central O.C. to down south. I know Marilyn tends to give plants names but this flower goes from how this looks to fade to a white. It has a faint sweet smell. My G.S. holds its shape and colors and has a beefy stem growth. It could be a seedling because I know Bud was friends with Marilyn and may have given her some seeds. I will ask him. Now that you mention it they do have a few days when they look much the same as the rainbow changes colors. I will get back after I call Bud. Bill

You beat me by a day, Bill. This noid cutting was potted July 5, 2008. It never really went dormant. It sat in my driveway all winter. The leaves grew kind of small during the colder months, but kept growing. The inflo started in January, and the first bloom was March 23.

On a side note: My wife bought this one for my birthday. She payed a lot of money, for what was suppose to be a very special Plumeria. It is certainly not what she thought she was purchasing, and appears to be a $10.00 cutting. Ebayers beware! In the end, it is a Plumeria, and will allways be loved and treated like any other!

WOW your Guillots is gorgeous and so is Marilyn's golden rainbow. I have quite a few of Marilynn's plumies, I use to have a wholesale account with her back when she was in Stanton. I know several people who have gotten Marilynns plumies and found out that she mislabled it. I know Twila had bought a Makaha sunset from Marilynns but when it bloomed it ended up being Christmas bow tie or something like that, she uses a pic of it as her signature flower on different forums.

I love Guillots, its one of my all time fav's, I got mine from Marilynn about 9yrs ago...its huge now.

Sorry to hear that about Twila- such a delightful lady. I don't know a Makaha sunset but if it is a Makaha Sunn (named by Bud for legendary surfer Rell Sunn after she passed away) I do have a small one that has yet to flower but should this year. I hope mine is true. I got it from the islands so it should be. f-4-p. you are always welcome to a limb if you are expanding that awesome collection. Both G.S. in the ground could lose a leg and the G.R. I may trim when I transplant it (when this inflo finishes) or for sure next season. Keep in touch. Bill

Freak4-p. Bud just returned my call and he said he did not know golden rainbow but when Marilynn was in Stanton he gave her plenty of the cuttings off of his G.Sunset tree and she could have easily had seedlings from what he gave her. However, he could not verify if they were really related. As I said, today those five flowers are almost white as they have faded out in about 5 days. My G.S. does not do this and remains a constant color until the individual flowers drop. Too bad we don't have plumeria DNA profiles. Bill

Wow that's early. I don't even have any leaves or buds yet. Did you keep it in a green house?

h-pat... No greenhouse here. I have my plants outside all year and this was one on the south side of my house that stayed warm from the radiating house. All the plants on that location are still holding some leaves and are putting out inflos very early. We had a warm winter this year so about 25 of my approx. 250 plants kept leaves so about 225 are just starting small leaves or have yet to get started. I have not counted but I see more signs of inflos this year than any in over a decade so I am hoping for a banner summer. I did discover that my 3 year old Confetti bit the dust today and that is the third Confetti I have lost so I am giving up on that one. Bummer. Bill

Bill quick question, those plants that are on the south side of your house with leaves, are they in pots or in ground? Will you be at SCPS meeting Sunday,would like to meet you .

All of those are in pots- about 8 in wide 7 gallons, 1 in a 15 gal, six in 5 gals. I have one Nebel's rainbow in the ground in the backyard that kept leaves, and the others were young starts from last season in various locations. I have a paddle out for a fellow surfer who passed away thursday and a celebration for another friend who also passed away so I will not be at the meeting. Bill
