Keeping flowers fresh

FlyingPete

My what I believe is a celadine is in full bloom at the moment and the kids started bringing dropped blooms and leaving them on the bench, these lasted a day or two before going brown so I started putting them in water which made them last a little longer.

Last Saturday I found some spare shot glasses and put some water crystals in them instead of water to hold the blooms in position better. Three blooms were set up that way on the bench and left to it.

Much to my surprise as I write this on Thursday morning all three blooms still look fresh! It has now been five days. Something in those water crystals must be magic :)
