Interestingly, the Kimi Moragne I picked and posted on Dec. 25 is still not wilted on Jan 2. all the others are long gone.

Nine days of a flower that does not want to see winter.

Actually we here in Southern Michigan may start warming up within the next couple of weeks. We were forecast to have a warmer than normal winter, and all that we've had for the last few weeks are temps below normal, like January temps, some days haven't got above freezing. Temps have been running with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and 20s. if we are to average out to be warmer than normal, then we gotta start warming up eventually. Or is it just wishful thinking?

I believe the source of quat... or cuat.(same root, different spelling to account for phonetic differences) for the number 4 is Latin. That root is common to all romance (Latinate) languages - Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and many of the regional dialects, in addition to French. The Latin sourced word may have entered English through French like so many words that did. But if so French was the carrier only, not the source.

Hey Bill, Did someone forget to tell you it's WINTER !!! 83 degrees !!! You must have an expensive heating bill keeping those temps up. How much of the neighborhood is being heated? Can you send some this way??? LOL Peg

My Kimi is still blooming as well, though slowing down dramatically, had a blossom opening on Christmas. I was careful to cover during the week we had of close to freezing night temps. The hard wind we had was hard in my Singapore White ithe front yard though (as well as losing a lot of leaves that weren't ready to drop yet). It is very droopy, all thr leaves cracked frim thr 45+ winds whipping the leaves , blossoms and branches back and forth!
