Think about the situation as you know it. It sounds like he is 'ok' with the crib in general. He plays happily in it? The things he has needed for sleep though have been the fan noise and his car seat. Car seats have their own scent, feel, and look as well as forcing a more upright or seated position. Also, his usual pattern now is probably to associate the car seat (and all its related variables) with being able to relax and fall asleep. The crib is a nice play area, but not conducive or associated with a good sleep for him (at this time). Do other things comfort him? When he does cry in the crib, can he be comforted by words, singing, music, touch... anything? The idea is not to let him cry himself to exhaustion, but that some discomfort is tolerable and if he can be acclimatized to the crib for sleep this can occur bit by bit over time. One thing that can help is to have play time anywhere else but not in the crib. The crib can be effectively re-defined as a place for sleep or at least quiet time. Experiment, and use your best judgement so that you can stay within (or stretch in a healthy way) your comfort zone and teach or train a 4 month old how to be able to sleep in his crib. There isn't one way to do this kind of thing because humans are mostly alike but are all individuals too. You and your baby can kind of get a feel for each other, and how to change patterns so that they are more productive. give it some time, because it's probably a _huge_ change for him and relaxing and sleeping in a whole new position and place (especially if he's used to other things happening in that place) is probably not going to happen all at once (the all at once approach would involve forcing the issue and letting him cry himself to utter exhaustion) P.S. If touch works for comforting him at all, infant massage techniques might be helpful for nighttime or crib-sleeping relaxation.

It is probably age. My Oscar (I've got one too!) used to sleep with me all the time when he was younger, but now he sleeps on the guest bed - he has his own blanket he likes to bury himself in. My other cat Barney still sleeps with me though sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night or when I wake in the morning find he 's not there, he's taken himself off somewhere. My Barney actually can't jump on the bed anymore due to age and a touch of arthritis so I've built him kitty steps at the food of the bed - just a Rubbermade two-step stepstool plus a little 10" tall padded footstool that I used to use in the livingroom for him and he climbs up those like steps. My vet has advised me that I'll probably have to build kitty steps for him in other areas - actully did buy a new low stepstool last night for himto use to get up onto one of his favourite window perches - up on the stool, then onto a chair then onto the perch. So you could try doing that and see if Oscar comes back. Took a couple of weeks for Barney to start using his steps at the foot of the bed, though Oscar loves them, he used to jump onto a low bedside table and walk over my DH's face to get over to me! DH likes the kitty steps much better! tess

mistykate, I agree with the others that this is not typical behavior for a 10 year old but not necessarily that it's a crisis. It sounds like something from Supernanny which I find a very helpful show. Not that it's important but kids in other cultures around the world co-sleep with parents for a lot longer than we expect in the USA. Before I would take SD to the pediatrician, I would ask the pediatrician first what they thought. My DS7 went through a phase of "ghosts" "men in black coats" "monsters in the closet" (this one came straight out of the Monsters Inc. movie) although he was a lot younger then. DH and I made a big ceremony of throwing out these "invaders." I'm sure it's different for a ten year old. I'm not trying to be flip but check out Supernanny. Plus a good incentive plan, movie tickets, special treats etc. for each night she spends in her own room with her sister.

In oktober 2013 I bought on E-bay a Dead Horse Arum bulb. Kept it cold and dry. Januari 2014 to my surprise it has started to wake up and I placed it asap in a 2.5 ft deep pot indoors. From that time it started producing leaves and a inflorescense so moved it in march in full sun on a S.E. balcony. When the blooming was at an end I placed the plant in june that year on a N.W. balcony with the idea that the plant would go dormant. Now, januari 2015 it is still producing leaves and a bud! Temperature outside is somwhere between 0 and 7 degrees Celcius with a few nights with frost. Not really Mediterranen. Pity I can't check the bulb now how much it has increased size. Has anyone have the same experience with this very exciting aroid? ps the smell when flowering was not as bad as described in literature. Maybe due to low temperatures at that time Kind regards , Gijs
