My Baby Won't Go To Sleep

Thank you so much for this forum. Although my problem seems a little like the previous string on plumerias preferring the garage, there seems to be something else going on.

I have a four year-old plumeria, and every year I stop watering it and stick it in the garage. It goes dormant, then comes out in spring to grow and bloom on the patio.

Heady with this success, I gratefully accepted a cutting from a friend's plant. The 10-inch cutting rooted and grew over the summer to about 30" tall, with more than a dozen leaves. Yea!

When frost threatened in late October, both plumerias were put in the garage and left to dry. The older plant did its leaf-drop thing and went to sleep. The baby is not only still awake, but in spite of having no water for 2 months, has managed put out 2 more leaves.

Should I just ignore it?? If it does ever go dormant, will it still have the ability to grow normally in spring? Do individual plumeria plants have their own dormancy cycles?

Thanks from Annie
