U. S. Drought Monitor Update July 14, 2009

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

The latest drought monitor maps released on Thursday show that abnormally dry conditions continue to spread across our state.

While the rains that are accompanying this week's cold front may provide some immediate relief for our lawns and gardens, they may not provide enough rainfall to change any given area's drought rating.

The part of Oklahoma classified as 'abnormally dry' grew quite a bit this week and the percentage of the state that is not classified in any drought category has dropped to less than 16%, leaving 84% of our state 'abnormally dry' at best.
