i think your baby might need a little vitamin d..seriously, it id false to believe that they are "shaddy plants" or inside/house plants only.. although they usually do thrive just about anywhere, mine are in mostly sun all day and are huge! if you have a little porch or even a window where you can put them in the sun for atleast a few hours a day, it might help remedy your problem. also, they are so right about rooting the plant and maybe starting over with it. at every notch or nodule, on these plants and many more, it will produce it's own rooting system if put in water. i wouldn't cut every single stem at each nodule so you have 50 scraggly sticks with one leaf on each, im just saying how easy it is to get a full plant back again, and you should be able to easily double each individual stem, that way you'll have 1 stem with the original top leaves that can be rerooted, and then the other half can be rooted as well, you'd be doubling your plant and starting again. sooo, that's would be my suggestion at this point.if you will just put them in water, they will start rooting in a few days. you can honestly leave them in the water for a long time, the roots will eventually just outgrow whatever they're in.. be careful not to soak the whole stem. you only really want about 1/2 inch to an inch in the water, they can get soggle and moldy, but it is very rare. i have never had that happen. i have 5 small cups in my room right now rooting.. just to keep mine reproducing all the time. i love love these plants. i've become fixed on them again this year... good luck and i think you'll have good results. :) happy gardening.

Shebert where are you located? A center frond or spear not present is not the end of the world but it is bad. It could be lethal yellowing as this palm is susceptable to this disease. Pics work the best if you post or send me one. I have had alot a queens myself, dont want to discredit myself but have not been able to keep any alive, all due to my weather here though. Also its a new palm planting, does it have 8-10 ft of trunk or is it just 8-10 ft tall? Anyway pics are worth a thousand words.. treating lethal yellow is not cheap if thats what it is, if you are from Florida or surrounding areas and it is lethal yellow, it can spread to other palms as its spread by insects and or tools. The best rememdy I am sorry to say if it is LY is to dig it up and plant a new one. Queens are fairly cheap there anyway.. I wouldnt take the chance of infecting your other palms if you have any.. Are you sure it is an Areca Palm (Dypsis), looks more like a Chamaedorea to me. In any event, your palm is extremely dry. The soil it is in is essentially peat moss. Peaty soils can become extremely difficult to saturate once they dry out. I would transplant it into a more palm friendly soil. Soil needs more humus, perlite and/or coarse sand. I would submerge it immediately into a bucket of water and saturate the rootball, wait a day or so, then transplant.

Is it getting any natural light? so you took it out of the pot and repotted again into different soil? in the current pic, the soil looks very peat heavy and wet. I think the roots started to rot when you repotted. Putting it back in its original pot was recommended, but since you repotted into another heavy soil, it’s probsbly rotting again, unfortunately. im not sure if there’s much hope. I’d personally remove all soil from the roots, prune rotted roots and put it in a mix of 70% perlite with 30% soil into a pot just barely big enough to fit the roots. Put in a bright window and hope for the best.
