Sago Pups

I have done a search here and have not seen this question, but if it has been asked and answered, please let me know and I'll try searching again.

I have a sago that is several years old, and it is for the first time growing several pups. It's in the ground, not potted, so space is not an issue at the moment.

My question is, are there pros and cons to leaving the pups if space is not an issue? I have seen posts about how to remove them, how large they should be before removing them, but I haven't seen posts about whether/why you should remove them, if you should. I need to know whether I can leave them or whether I should remove them.

Thank you for any help with this question.
