Carolyn22 - I actually don't remember exactly....it is about 20x30 including the waterfall. I've really enjoyed the sound of water, watching the fishes and birds that frolic in the waterfall. I will need to lift and divide some of my waterlilies soon.

Well, could it also be Francee? In the last photo, it is showing a good bit of corrugation and some cupping. Francee was among the ones sold at Lowes this year, and I succumbed to temptation and bought it. However, with deep regrets I sat the potted hosta to the curb later that week, and it disappeared within the hour. BUT, the pictures of Francee in HL remind me of these leaves shown here. My Patriot is a much darker green leaf, although I admit it had limited exposure to sun all summer.

I'm no expert in these, although I have a 3rd year titan from a friend's leaf cutting, The question is how much did the corm weigh before you planted it this year? My other question is how much light your plant is getting, because where you have it set now doesn't look like it would get enough sunlight to actually bloom regardless of the size? It's hard to tell how deep the container is, but I suspect that many people plant the corm too shallow, which means that roots growing from the top of the old corm are also too shallow, causing new growth to fall over too easily. Can you move it outdoors into bright shade, where wind won't knock it over? I could be all wrong but these are my impressions. Rick in CT

One year I bought cheap potting soil (Schultz with mostly wood chips), and my gallon size own-roots actually shrank in such zero nutrients medium (except for blue pellets of chemical fertilizer). So 5 of my own-roots died through zone 5 winter when I transferred from pots into my clay. But previous years of planting smack into my clay: I have a higher rate of winter survival due to my fertile clay (with plenty of humus or decayed leaves), plus minerals for solid canes & roots. I agree with what the poster Kimmsr stated below: "Soil Nitrogen availability is highly dependent on your soil temperature which influences bacterial activity, so if you test your soil for N when it is fairly cold and the bacteria are not very active the test will show little N available. I have found that if the soil contains adequate amounts of organic matter, 6 to 8 percent humus, there is ample amounts of Nitrogen even when a soil test shows a lack." https://www.houzz.com/discussions/1531578/applying-soybean-meal-alfalfa-meal-to-garden Bagged garden soil is more fertile than potting soil since black peat is #1 ingredient in garden soil in the midwest, and black peat is black humus & higher in nitrogen. Your formula of garden soil + native soil + manure compost for pots give amazing roses !! There's a poster Tique Lo in Utah who posted the best Pink Peace in a pot (with lots of petals & pretty ruffles), he mixed his clay with pine-barks and used that in pots.
