Alabama your yard doesn't look bad at all you don't want to go crazy killing weeds in this heat.be patient hand pick the major ones and don't spray until your yard goes dormant than you can use round up and get a hold on them.then you need to get on pre emergent program.i like stonewall- Prodiamine it's a spring and fall application. Read the Bermuda bible and follow by seasons. I made mistake spraying weeds in the summer before but I guess you live and learn. One more thing do your yard a great service and get a soil test.i see people with high ph and putting down lime.thats a killer. I see people with low phos ,potassium,just putting nitrogen on there yard instead of a balanced fertilzer like 13-13-13. My neighbor had a light green colored yard.one day he ask me what I was putting on my yard.i told him a balanced fertilzer.So I put a one foot square spread of 13 -13 - 13 on his yard and his grass turned bright green and grew great.He listen to me after that and had soil tested low phos,potassium and they told him to use a balanced fertilzer 19-19-19 at 5 lbs per 1000 sq ft.now his whole yard is green and he is a happy camper. Soil test will tell you a lot of good info. Good luck. Tom

really hard to tell for sure but typically fungus in my area is reddish/yellow. You may have multiple problems. The problem with newbies is that they want to solve problems with chemicals (I was one of the worst offenders). The worst time to add fertilizer is when a grass is stressed and excessive nitrogen will show up as patterns matching the application method. If you just applied the nitrogen within the last few days you can reduce the effect by watering heavily for one day but if you applied it more than a few days ago you are probably past the danger period. Again, check the soil moisture at about 2-6" deep at several areas in your lawn each week. It should be slightly wet the day of watering and then let it go to slightly damp before watering again. Wet all the time just rots the roots and causes yellowing due to lack of nutrients. With most soils a twice weekly 1" watering in the summer is all you need. When the grass comes back on it's own (and I'm almost certain it will) then evaluate the soil like I said and take any corrective action required. Guessing and throwing chemicals at it will probably make things worse.

My nephew works at a garden center called St. Aubin's Nursery (giving it a plug) here on Cape Cod. They had a sale of hydrangea's (no disease's or poor plants, just clearing stock, making room for roses)..he said they were different prices but worked out to $10.00 a piece..so he called my DH and kids to buy some knowing that I was interested... I'm a bit nervous now since I am a novice..and a bit of an idiot at times..I feel I will be making friends here quickly for help...My nephew doesn't work with the plants, so knows nothing about them, nor do my family..I only gave them name that I had heard of such as Nikko Blue..but they came home with these..not knowing the plants may be out of my league...just thought they were very pretty..they did say they saw alot Nikko Blue, ES and Shamrock.. Just a fluke that they chose all lacecaps... Thanks...I have many more questions..I've read back to the year 04 on this forum..but still like personal responses.. I will need everyone's help I fear!
