Carefree Perennial Ideas for West-facing Spot

Hello,

Our non-gardening son lives in Oklahoma City and wants to add some flowers in front of dwarf bamboo (nandina?) which are the foundation plants. He likes the color blue (I would think he might take some red or orange also).

I've been trying to figure out what might grow out there. We're in Virginia. Wondered if there were any ideas from you folks. GardenWeb in our area is a wonderful asset.

If you could offer any help in what to order for him I sure would appreciate it. We'll be out there in early June to put them in. The area where they will be is west exposure. He does have a sprinkler system in the ground for the grass, so at least things will be watered. They can't be too tall since the bushes are rather low.

Blessings to you!

Donna
