A NINE-sheather for Dragon_Kite!

Finally got a picture of this spike. The red lines indicate where I peeled each sheath off--a total of NINE of them! Never saw anything like that before.

I think the flowers are supposed to be yellow with a red lip.

Got this plant from SLO Gardens in May of 2004, this is the first spike on it for me.

Sharon - Not being a Catt person, I have no clue what you're talking about but can tell it's way beyond exciting and impressive.

    Congratulations, Whitecat8

Can you post something like that on a public forum?

    That is interesting.
I wonder if it has a very strong Laelia background and the tall spike genes just dominated.

I am also wondering if you would have ended up with a much taller spike if you did not open the sheaths early.

I was wondering too, what would have happened if you didnt do that? Bet it will be beautiful when it opens though.
