astilbe, caladium questions

Good morning, Experienced Ones,

I have questions about astilbe and caladium. I have never grown astilbe but understand it is great in the shade, so I bought a couple of those bags with bare roots, I guess - one from Walmart and one from Lowe's - and put them in the ground. Now I'm wondering if that is the best way to get astilbe started. One of our little places had a plant for sale this weekend, but it was kind of expensive, and I wanted to give the ones I had planted a chance. Could be that once I find out they aren't going to come up that I won't be able to find the plants, though. So, in your experience, those of you who have grown it, what is the best way to get it started?

Question # 2: Last year I grew caladium in my shady front bed, and they were amazing. I replanted a couple of weeks ago but now I'm thinking I may have planted to many in one spot. Once they come up, do you think I will be able to just move some of them to a different spot?

Thanks for your help.
