Minimum sunlight requirement to grow veggies

Hi,

I'm a new gardener and not sure of how much direct sunlight we need to grow veggies. We have built a 4'x4' raised container garden and put it on the sunniest part of our deck. That area maybe gets 5-6 hours of direct sunlight but is shaded by the house past 2pm or so. We want to grow tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and then herbs; will that be enough sun? We are planting broccoli too but from what I've read that should be okay.

If it helps to know, in that same area just a few feet away we have a large flower bed that does well with a crepe myrtle, roses, daylillies and canna.

Your help is appreciated, thanks.
