No Till Gardening

There is an interesting article in today's (3/19/03) Daily Oklahomian about "no-till" gardening. Most of the farmers have gone to this method for large scale farming and this article recommends it for small gardens also. It states that the first year is extremely difficult because of getting everything set up for it with heavy mulch and the addition of organic materials and the necessity of digging up weed roots.

I am curious whether anyone on here is using that method and how it works to keep Bermuda Grass and othr blown in weed seeds under control.

Personnally, I love working in the garden with the roto-tiller and how it turns the soil into an ash bed with all of the big clumps broken up. I guess I am just a throw back to the 40's. Bob
