Hosta Choice Gardens (Ontario) and New Additions

Wanted to let anyone know that would be from or around Southwestern Ontario Canada, that might be planning a visit to Hosta Choice Gardens outside of Appin, they are planning to stay open til September 30th.

I think after this week, I'm grounding myself from buying anymore hosta's this year.....I live way to close to that place...tee hee

New additions are: Liberty, Pauls Glory, Dream Weaver, Blue Ivory, Queen of the Seas, Thunderbolt, Love Pat, El Nino, Rainforest Sunrise, Pilgrim, Emerald Ruff Cut, Maui Buttercup, Little Sunspot, First Mate, Island Charm, Aristocrat, High Society, Touch of Class, Captain Kirk, Striptease, Great Expectations and Earth Angel

Now I'm up to 'only' 33 varieties...lmbo

You will have an ANAZING collection, very quickly, at this rate!!! :o)) GOOD JOB!!!

That is a great collection there. In three years I have gotten to over 80 and there are some on your list I still want to get!

Lucky you. They all look healthy. I really like upright hostas. Torch Light and Dark Star are awsome. I just happened to take a picture this morning of my 'On Stage' in its third year. It's always late in emerging.

Hosta flowers valuable addition to the garden!

Thanks Donna. Nice flower bed there. But what I was really asking is not about using hostas as a foil for other flowers, but using HOSTA FLOWERS to enhance a flowering combination of other plants. Hosta flowers tend to get treated as being of relative unimportance in the the reasons to plant them. What I was saying - and trying to demonstrate with the pictures - is that the hosta flowers can be an important contributor to the flower garden. I was looking for examples/combinations that some of you may have created that would give me ideas and recommendations for hostas with particularly useful flowers.

It's good that you have access to a nursery where you can pick up more recent introductions yourself. I was interested in purchasing an Angel Falls myself, but I'm trying to hold off on the larger varieties (space concerns!!!). Enjoy your new additions. Sea Fire is "smokin!" BC Is that a favourite of mine - Irish Luck - growing well behind Dancing Queen?
