Hello fellow Gardeners!!

I am new to this forum, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am new to the northewest, all my garden experience is at 3B in Quebec so I have lots to learn. Slugs and deer are two things I am learning that are hard to beat at their game. lol.

I live on mid Vancouver Island on 7 acres complete with a marshy area, some deer and right now a yearling black bear that is causing my black lab to have an anxiety attack. lol.

We built our house last year so there is a lot of work to be done. I did deer fence an area last year and am now on the second year of my perennial garden. What I have discovered in my soil is quite acidy. My lilies are tall and healthy but my delphiniums are spindly and bloom stingy.

I am sure this a problem of most Northwestern gardeners.

Do you work in lime around the plants that need more alkaline soil? Do you mainly grow acid loving plants?

Thanks and happy gardening!

Joyce
