Good time for sowing wildflowers

For all of you interested in growing wildflower meadows or flowers in mass, a good time to sow is as the snow begins to melt. Prairie Moon sent out an email showing the pluses to midwinter sowing. The moisture from the snow and the cold provides for the stratification needs of the seeds. I'm sowing more poppies and larkspur. I plan to also sow some Pearly Everlasting seed and some old flower seed packets to see how they do. Can't waste a record breaking snow!! Think I'll also throw out some spinach and lettuce seeds as well--can't hurt. Just got to keep the birds from eating the seeds. Hopefully, they'll chose to eat the sunflower and thistle seeds in the feeders.

As I'm getting ready to post this, the sun is peeping through! Yay
