Can you ID this perennial?

I got this plant at a plant exchange last year. It was free and unlabeled so I had no idea where to plant it or anything about it. I first planted it in the sun and it faded and did not grow well. At the end of summer last year, I moved it to morning sun and afternoon shade and this spring it seems to be growing happily. I don't have any idea if it will flower, or just have lovely foliage.

Does anyone know what it is??

Okay, so I looked up Petasites and it does look like it. However, it says it can be invasive and it grows huge! Is it a good plant to keep in my garden? If you think I should keep it, I definitely need to move it because it's in a small space.

This is not a "bush" or a shrub. It is some kind of perennial. It looks like tansy as suggested by your post on the Name that Plant forum.

G. cantabrigiense is a sterile hybrid, a naturally occurring cross between G. macrorrhizum and dalmaticum. It is a very low, dense mat-forming hardy geranium with nearly evergreen foliage and hot pink flowers. It makes a good groundcover. 'Biokovo' is less vigorous and makes looser mats, making it less ideal as a groundcover. And the flower color is pretty distinct. There are quite a few named cultivars of G. macrorrhizum but the species offers rather dulled magenta flowers compared to several, more vibrant cultivars...'Bevan's Variety' in particular has quite bright flowers. I'm not sure the distinction would be extremely noticeable unless they were compared side by side. While I wouldn't swear to it, especially based solely on photos, I think you can be pretty firm in your ID's :-)

It's a gold leafed sport of a NW native plant, so "invasive" would not be the correct term to use :-) But it does spread to form an impressively sized colony if happily sited - drier conditions will keep it on the smaller side.

Yours looks like Petasites frigatus var. palmatus 'Golden Palms', golden western coltsfoot or butterbur. And you'll find that many of the plants available at swaps and plant exchanges are robust spreaders -- that's why folks are so generous with them!!
