Rose, I guess I got the names mixed up some how over the phone. Must be my hearing, my wife says I don't hear a thing she says. As a mater of fact when I go to the site it does come up with gosucculent dot com. I would love to attend the shows you folks get to go to in CA. It would be really rough on my wallet though. Made it through the snow and ice without incident and will be in the 70s by the week end. I thank the colors will probably hold as long as the nights stay cool but will probably go away during July, August and September. But the lady I talked to did say it had been unseasonably hot in the San Diego area. I know their nights are cool this time of year from my Navy boot camp days. Will let you know.

Seedlings go in to dormancy like regular plants. I have 70+ seedlings that are doing the same as the trees. Im in S.FL but we've had freezes. I watered everything about a month ago and they're all doing fine. Let them do as nature intended. Go to sleep and wake up when weather permits. CA handles things differently however. Can't speak for them.

I have found this sight invaluable for figuring out how to plant things. I also have luck googling "Germinating (what ever plants name you are looking for)". It has a lot of plants listed in the germinating tables on this site and his philosophy of germinating is very simple. I am a girl who shies away from propagators and I fall sow and let the out doors do my cold stratifying. I do find a sanding of hard shells to be a good thing. First, thank you all for very good pointers... I will put them in a gravely spot where it should drain well and I will put some leaves over them. There is a tree nearby so it should shade it so it doesn't thaw and refreeze over and over. Just trying to keep them dormant and not sitting in water ;) Kara, I'm quite envious of your warm climate! I got to see San Fran for a day in early October and weather was perfect to see Golden Gate Park. So beautiful :) I hear ya about the relaxing part... until realizing it takes hours to water them (at least when they are indoors). Dave, they will be out of reach so crossing fingers I get them settled right! Rina, yeah I don't trust that I can get them through the winter as they are in peat based pots...will go with a gritty home for them.
